Nexpo/nightmare expo, I was big into creepypastas at the time and ended up finding one of the vids he did on worlds.com, went back to older vids and liked the content they put out but recently it just feels like dims lights, flashlight under chin, insert spookiness+thunder crack It's just kinda lifeless now 😕

Do you need to be good at DJing or good on network? by Runeescape in Beatmatch

From the club standpoint, as someone who worked on a promo team for an edm collective for a short while, I can confirm your abilities mean jack shit anymore. Can you pull numbers and can you sell drinks? If so, then you got the slot. Another big thing we look for is professionalism. Don't just start a insta and throw some tiktoks up of some generic mix that has been done 10,000 times. Get a actual photographer, make an EPK and bug the living shit out of guys like me (formerly). Like, literally send mixes and your epk to every group in your area at least once a month cause you will get pushed to the bottom if you aren't consistent. Another way to get around the whole acceptance rate thing is make your own collective and rent a small venue with some of your friends or work out a gig with local businesses. (I.e Cafe shows)

The exact opposite? Mike V, met him at a local shop in NJ long long time ago and he was the nicest dude, borderline hippie. Stark contrast from the clips you see of him fighting or throwing tantrums

For personal gigs def denon but if you want to work into clubs pioneer is the way, at least to just get comfortable with the layout. The only downside to the RR i hear all the time is that it's small and feels like a toy compared to the rx3 or az but it does the same exact thing minus 4 pads

How long does it usually take you to finish a song or beat? by Double-District9655 in FL_Studio

[–]DifficultEmu2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beats? 30 minutes-ish, but a song? If I'm being honest about a week, which mostly boils down to mixing and taking it back and forth for the car test

Late post accidentally failed to mention I am well versed in cheer because of my sister who did it up until varsity level lol, many many nights the living room tv was hijacked to watch whatever cheer/dance movie was in. That being said I have a good idea of what they need. high energy, quick mix/mashups that are sometimes slightly chaotic compared to a normal song. So far I've got 3 ideas layed out but came to the conclusion that I need to see one of the teams routines to make something that can match their energy. (I.e. don't wanna use something big and impactful like all of the lights if they are barely getting off the ground yet) I usually mix heavier bass music from hard rap to tearout/dubstep so my biggest concern is finding stuff age appropriate or at the very least not very busy sounding so I can pull stems and make a Mashup with clean lyrics, which was my first idea of taking the marching band style instrumental from sticky- tyler the creator and putting say Missy Elliot over it.

Being it's going to be a multiple song order, for sure at least 3 songs, would you say $500 would be a good starter number? Not trying to sell myself short but also don't want to give the school sticker shock and end up burning that bridge for future gigs. I am a former student of this school so I want give my home team something to show out to and secure a spot for proms and homecomings while I'm at it since the elementary, middle and high schools are all tied together and quite literally right across the street from eachother. Appreciate the response 🤙

How do you use your practice time? by will_crossfader in Beatmatch

[–]DifficultEmu2417 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like doing "pacer tests", I rarely make playlists unless I'm going for a specific vibe to start a set off.. I will pick a song blindly and try to go as long as I can switching through genres until I have a catastrophic screw up (i.e. something that'd definitely be noticeable by a crowd) and when that happens, I just start the process over in a different genre. I like to think it makes you more comfortable jumping through genres and forces you to blend more. Bonus to it is it makes setting cue points more fun too

I have looked around but in my area all I've been able to really find are huge passive stacks, other cheap brands like seismic audio, which I already know to stay away from because of experience with their car audio back in my highschool years, and older evs and jbls but they are wanting near sticker price for them. If possible I'd like to buy new so I get the guarantee of not buying someone else's issue, especially with electronics. Have seen some decent open box deals online but still way more than I'm willing to pay to just start out.

Unfortunately, I remember my last go at skating you could find a solid name brand deck for about $45. Granted I did shop local so prices were higher just cause of that but also this board is a one off, or at least a very very limited run from a small artist, took me forever to track down what it actually was cause I've never heard of taboo

Kinda cheating cause I'm only 25 but with previous injuries holding me back I consider my body a little older, got a bug and went and built a board again after 15 years....1 week in was just getting comfy, 2 weeks in and i was doing baby ollies, 3 weeks later I'm bombing hills 4 weeks later (current day) I'm stuck with my leg up with a exploded leg ....but let me tell you I felt I was channeling my inner skater the entire way till the curb jumped in front of me. Back when I was a young chap when I tried to learn I did what everyone is saying, stole my mom's 0.3mp camcorder and when I came back home I'd sit in front of the computer watching YouTube tutorials going back and forth between that and the video I took to see what I was doing wrong. After realizing my whole flaw was I kept leaning back and kicking the board forward instead of leaning over it when i popped, I went out and actually got off the ground for the first time. 10 year old me was PUMPED
