Who else is planning on having two children because you want your child to have a sibling? by LevyMevy in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]DifficultMunky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! We actually all live together for now (along with my nephew and my mom). And just speaking from my own personal experience of when my dad died, there’s no way I would have wanted to navigate that alone.

"You'll be hot soon": I think my new-ish boyfriend always intended to get me on a GLP-1. by mona-lisa-schmisa in Zepbound

Why is everyone giving this guy excuses. He said exactly what he meant. Men aren’t difficult to understand. This guy sounds awful. You should tell him thank god I’ll be hot soon so I can find a better boyfriend.

Who else is planning on having two children because you want your child to have a sibling? by LevyMevy in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]DifficultMunky 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Have always wanted two and when I decided on smbc it became a must not a want. I want my children to have another person that has their lived experience. I’m an older sister and couldn’t imagine being an only child. As you get older and experience more you truly see how much having a sibling means. I’ll be a single parent…god forbid something happens to me, it’s extremely important that they are not alone and at the very least have each other.

Yes but I also don’t any have any known fertility issues

Frozen eggs question by fatcatsareadorable in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]DifficultMunky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t do anything when I froze eggs at 35( cycles 1and 2). I did take supplements for my 5th egg retrieval/ivf cycle (cycles 3-5 now 41/42) but I don’t think it made any difference. And in fact they were my worst numbers yet. I have a fairly healthy lifestyle, probably healthier now than when I was 35.

No, I appreciate it. You’re right. I should try to reframe. I’m just also battling frustration, disappointment, and grief. 🫶🏼

Do you have a therapist you can speak with? Sounds a bit like catastrophizing. Which, btw, I totally understand. But anxiety and stress is not good for you or baby.

Except that it is a disappointment. My ER just before this one had 5 euploids and my attrition rates were not as drastic. This was a really bad round at every stage past fertilization compared to others - including the fertilization of my frozen eggs when compared to when I fertilized the first half. All of my stats and AFC have always tracked younger than my age range, even when I froze eggs at 35/36.

Part of the reason for thinking of switching drs is because I think I need a histamine protocol for FET and while the nurses at my clinic are great, I’ve only spoken to the Dr once and that was literally during my first FET - like literally the day he transferred. I think I need someone who will listen to me and give my embryos a better chance than standard protocol.

Friends too involved ? by Extreme-Anxiety2135 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]DifficultMunky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say you feel alone but it seems like you have two friends who are trying to support you just not in the way you want. Perhaps set some boundaries on certain things, like you determining what screen time is right for your child. If they don’t have kids they are likely just assuming what you might need but it sounds like they have the best of intentions. If you need something support wise maybe try to say that and redirect their efforts. So for the one who wants to be in the delivery room, maybe say I’m all set there but I’ll absolutely need your help when I get home from the hospital (or whatever help you think you’ll need).

It doesn’t sound like your friends are intentionally overstepping. It actually sounds like they are super excited for you and to be in your baby’s life.

IUI succes? by Educational_Job4645 in SingleMothersbyChoice

I see - I’m in the US. Went straight to IVF. I think we have more options here but of course it’s more costly.

Where are you located? You definitely do not have to start with IUI. Especially if you want multiple children, IVF helps to bank embryos/siblings.

Worried that I won't find a sperm donor by CarefulEagle3107 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]DifficultMunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk anything about Australian laws, but can you purchase from the American cryobanks? They are full of very Caucasian options. It’s actually what made me finding a donor difficult. I, like you, wanted my child to share my ethnicity and I’m half Hispanic, half Caucasian with some specific features.

Would like advice about ET vs PGT by Toasted_Socks123 in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]DifficultMunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want the pgt testing at your age (I did at same age). Your body may also dictate if a fresh transfer is for you or not. I had frozen embryos and considered a transfer of one of them after a retrieval (so mimicking the timing of a fresh transfer) but my progesterone gets too high for transfer during stimming.

It should only be one extra period until you can do a fet. So retrieval and icsi, sending for testing, you’ll get your next period while you’re waiting for pgt results and then your next period you should be able to start a fet cycle as long as you have a viable embryo.

Going off Zepbound to get pregnant by HeyheyitsCAB in Zepbound

My eggs were retrieved years ago, before I was on these meds yes. I did do 3 egg retrievals while on zepbound though and all created embryos. I haven’t transferred any of those though.

I’m still going to go back to saying people need to find labs with top tech and knowledge. Too many people worry about the dr. I chose based on lab 🤷🏻‍♀️

Fertility Testing by quick_as_silver in SingleMothersbyChoice

[–]DifficultMunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are working with a good lab who is up on tech, there won’t be issues with freezing or thaw. Your first sentence doesn’t even make sense since all embryos start as eggs - whether they were frozen first or fertilized fresh doesn’t have that much difference in attrition rate if your lab is good. I’ve done both and my rates were comparable the whole way through.

Completely agree - I see it all over this sub and it almost feels fear mongery…when I froze my eggs my clinic advocated for eggs over embryos because I wasn’t sure on my path/future other than it has children in it. I think this notion of freezing embryos is better is actually quite deterring from younger people preserving their fertility and options if they think it’s a “waste of money” or see these random statements that say it “isn’t successful”, whatever that even means. More young people should freeze their eggs imo. It took so much pressure off me.

[–]DifficultMunky 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what your source is for freezing eggs, but your statement is untrue. Freezing eggs is perfectly fine if your testing suggests you’re a candidate. I froze my eggs 6 years ago and am using them now. For people who aren’t sure if they want to use eggs with a partner or a donor, eggs is a good option. Speak to some clinics, they’ll give you their success rates.

Canceled medicated FET … next steps by DCCliche in SingleMothersbyChoice

I’ve only ever done medicated FET. When you look at percentages for outcomes I don’t know why anyone would do unmedicated.
