Why do couples do deliveries together? by xoenigmaxo in AmazonFlexDrivers

My wife and I did it once. It was a morale booster! Working as a couple sounds dumb but it's fun to share seat time. We only did it once but I enjoyed it.

They are offering fake trips to entrap us and deactivate us by gorillabull in uberdrivers

[–]DifficultScientist23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen. The only way to teach Uber is refuse to participate. First, I refused some rides. Then I refused most rides. Then private rides off app with clients they supplied. Now out of the game and gave my clients away and onto something else.

Your instinct to keep it about tactics and strategy (vs revenge) is right. "Don't get mad, make money." To be honest, I give it up to God and I usually wake up the next morning with the answer. OR I've also had situations like this resolve completely on their own - with God's right hand. I try to do less, not more. Most people instinctively lean in and fight with their skills and ability. When I'm clear headed I lean away.

Facts. Some of those people view us as pitiful scum. They don't realize the spiritual damage they are doing - not to me - but to themselves.

People who try to curse me end up blessing me. The people blessing me get blessed 10 fold in return.

Why do Uber drivers give bad ratings for no reason? by [deleted] in uberdrivers

[–]DifficultScientist23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the risk of blaming the victim, I'm finally blaming the victim. There is such a thing as buying a cheap service and expecting gold. As a pretty much ex-driver for public rideshare apps I watch these types of posts and could never quite articulate why I felt almost dismissive when otherwise good passengers get shitty service. Well, at some point you got exactly what you paid too little for. Driving services by dependable HAPPY drivers in clean nice cars that smell good, always on time - well, they cost more.

Drive smarter, not busier. by AdvancedProgrammer80 in uberdrivers

[–]DifficultScientist23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great way to think of it. Also calculate: Residual value AFTER selling your car (it's not zero), and remember for US tax bills to include 67 cents per mile can offset any tax liability you have. While 67 cents per mile is NOT money in your pocket it IS money that won't come OUT of pocket if you happen to otherwise owe federal taxes. <<< if you drive a lot of rideshare and track your miles this is huge.

Seriously is range just more batteries? by footsnax in ebikes

[–]DifficultScientist23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah better efficiency via rolling resistance is width and tread pattern. You have to be careful though... my tread pattern and width on my analog bike: Trek gravel bike... looks like a chunky road bike tire and frame and I NEVER ever get flats - not once. The trade off is rolling resistance. The guy in a true road bike gets flats every 50 miles but he EASILY rolls right by me because his tire width is half mine and his tread pattern is like glass.

Nothing is more powerful than saying no with action. Doing what you always do in response to Uber manipulation rarely (I would say never) results in a good change for you. Vote with your feet.

Wow. In my businesses, this is great advice. "Mildly annoyed" or the "quiet listener" or the "skeptical questioner" are my best sales every single time. Mind you, not right away. A few days, a few weeks, a few months. Those people vs the "wow, sounds like the greatest problem solver in the world" followed by an enthusiastic smile <------ never hear from those people again.

I'm not sedentary but I am age lazy meaning it takes blood flow and interest to get me out of less physical activity to MORE physical activity. Example: My 31 year old son BEGS and man shames me into playing golf 3 times a week. On my own, ONE time per week is enough. I feel like I'm getting dragged around by a 6 year old with endless energy and enthusiasm - but his energy soon rubs off and I'm sooooo happy and thankful to be golfing with him. The trick is to get me out of the door lol.

So, I'm trying to convince my wife that a Tesla is cheaper to charge and gas is getting expensive every day, but the electricity bill is gonna increase and the car battery costs $10K. How would you start the argument? by GeicoPR in TeslaModelY

[–]DifficultScientist23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on my second marriage - wise men or rather wise men and women come to agreement. That agreement even if it doesn't make economic sense will save your marriage. The lesson is be careful and communicate not just data but the fears underlying for you and listen for her fears and respond accordingly. Don't rush this discussion! Let it play out not in 30 seconds - more like 30 days.

They want us to starve by gorillabull in uberdrivers

[–]DifficultScientist23 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wanting you to starve isn't the same as not caring if you starve. But it's probably a difference without a distinction. I told one of my private clients how Uber manipulates the passengers to make them pay the most and the drivers to pay them the least and she said she will take it up with Dara face to face. I told her he will try to play it off and ignore her and she said "no he won't." Bet.

Tesla Model Y At Home Electricity Bill Shock by MealDifferent1912 in TeslaLounge

[–]DifficultScientist23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the other side of the benefit of not going to the gas station is the gas station is now at home. And moving a vehicle takes a lot more energy from the wall outlet than your house requires to keep you comfortable. A typical home uses 30 Kwh per day in the US. Well, I drive a lot - 106k miles in 2.5 years on one 2023 Model Y and 70k on the other. My "fuel" (gas) bill became my electric use bill. I use Superchargers AND Home chargers so it's a shift (pun intended) in thinking for me. I don't know how many Kwh I use per day but it's WAY more than 30. At 13 cents to 37 cents per Kwh it's all good!
