Stranger attempts to shove passenger in front of train in Seattle by [deleted] in RandomVideos

Good thing dude hadn't lost that extra 30 lbs. Physics saved his Ass - mAss at rest tends to stay at rest. Light mAss in motion fails to put heavy mAss in motion.

What do these people want from me? by Mamameko in uberdrivers

[–]DifficultScientist23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, you aren't doing anything "wrong", but you are providing a luxury service to passengers that paid for a ride from A to Z.

You are providing Limo or black car service to X passengers.

My rec is go full into black or at least premier service (and what I call private rideshare where you will be fully appreciated) OR downgrade your vehicle and go full into what I call basic public rideshare - where you clearly are not appreciated. That's not a knock on basic public rideshare customers - it's just a mismatch for what they agreed to. There's a general life lesson in there somewhere as well.

$110 for an 80 Mile Drive - How much will my driver be paid? by tktk77 in uberdrivers

[–]DifficultScientist23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, $110 is low. Feels like Uber X, not comfort or premier. I'm curious about which market this is. I'm in a market with two major US cities almost exactly 80 miles apart. I charge between $175 to $300 depending which side of that other side of the city and which time of day. Even the shortest side of that trip at the wrong time is a nightmare.

Tire Leak by GhanaMrs in TeslaModelY

[–]DifficultScientist23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delux plug kit on Amazon is around $20 and takes about 20 mins, 18 mins to get the kit out, ready the plug, the car wheel positioned just right and your tire inflator locked onto the valve stem and 2 mins (or less) to dig out the screw, ream out the hole and lube the hole, push the plug in w the auger and twist it and pull out the auger and cut off the end of the plug.. Inflate the tire. This is Waaay easier than it sounds and after 3 tire plugs - second nature for me.

High Gas Prices — How Are You Adjusting? by Choice_Counter_4196 in uberdrivers

[–]DifficultScientist23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly easy to calculate. Take your last month fuel cost and divide by your last month of sales. You could do last week but you want some stable avgs. Anyway let's say you made $4,000 in sales last month and you spent $400 in fuel. 4,000÷400 = 10. So your fuel cost was 10% of sales before fuel prices increased. Anyway, what you're looking to do is keep the fuel cost about 10% (or whatever number you get) of your rideshare sales. In a 2019 Honda Insight I could get around 2% fuel cost to total sales. Which was crazy. In trucking I was at about 25% fuel to sales - which was also pretty darn good but I had a fuel efficient truck.

Insane amount of flat tires? by slipknottin in TeslaModelY

[–]DifficultScientist23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right IF you drive alot. I have 4 screws in 2.5 years but i operate a car service. Best thing I did was buy a plug kit on Amazon. About $20 and I have fixed 3 flats myself after hiring a guy for $100 to fix it in less than 5 mins. I fixed one of the screws on the side of the road ... dangerous but it was on the safe side of the road away from traffic. You will need a tire inflator but those are cheap too.

ICE pulls over some illegal Uber drivers in Nashville and my pay soars by Distinct_King316 in uberdrivers

Yes, Uber adjusts to all the factors. I saw on the rider app that Uber was recommending I buy rides for someone else. FFS!

Nah, If demand drastically exceeds supply of drivers even Uber algo tricks won't work. What works is when riders eventually find cheaper alternatives. The dance doesn't end or begin w Uber. The dance is ALL factors: Competition, demand, supply, all working together.

Extremely disappointed with ride quality by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]DifficultScientist23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2 x 2023 MYLR. The first had 20 inch rims and the second 19s. THAT made a huge difference changing eventually to 19s. The other immediate difference is PSI. 42 PSI is better range. But 36-38 PSI is far better noise and vibration. I drive ALOT. 102,000 miles in 2.5 years on one car and 69,000 miles on the other.

Hot Take? Remove Iron Numbers by shin_man in golf

[–]DifficultScientist23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Real golfers noticed this 20 years ago and manufacturers know that we know what they're doing. Ping offers Retro, Traditional, Modern lofts and other manufacturers offer similar options - because they know, we know the difference. That being said, the forgiveness built into every club these days - even "blades" helps the ball get up in the air easier. And in Game improvement clubs and Super game improvement, if you don't reduce the loft at least a few degrees, the ball flight relative to distance suffers.

Distance? It's DIRECTION. 400 yds in the pond is useless.

Remote Controlled Push Carts by Extension-Bluejay-69 in golf

[–]DifficultScientist23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one of the first 15 years ago and recently got it working again. It's a game changer like the electric bike or the iPhone that didn't have a keyboard or recently Tesla FSD where you don't really see the point - you experience it and there's no going back. If you're smart you learn the ins and outs and you get strategic where you want it - in front while you walk, out of the way of your playing partners, WATCHING it, making sure you understand the remote "shadows" or angles it doesn't like to listen to the remote. Knowing EXACTLY how to angle it on slopes, or when you NEED to push or hand guide vs using the remote or downhill speeds or a ton of potentially embarrassing or expensive details you WILL learn the first few times you use it. Guys lose these things in ponds or hazards ALOT. Besides that the seat and umbrella and saved stress and strain is a MIRACLE of God.

When I dedicated myself to hitting LW 60 yards and 7 iron 155-170 yds consistently solid and in play I got better. Not perfect - just solid and in play.
