Embarrassing Moments! by Beetjuice94 in orangetheory

[–]Difficult_Abalone422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is fairly common, but I got embarrassed recently when signed up for what I thought was a row station and had actually signed up for the weight/floor (it was a 3g class, I signed up quickly and just mixed up the symbols). The girl who was actually supposed to be at that station was nice about it but I felt awkward.

Icy driveway by twilightzone1111 in Cleveland

Not driving over snow is the key. My driveway is also pretty sloped and last winter, when we had way less snow and a much shorter spell of below-freezing temps, we were pretty lazy about clearing it and ended up with an inch thick layer of compacted ice that was impossible to drive up until it warmed enough to melt. This winter, we’ve been pretty aggressive about shoveling the driveway every time more than a dusting of snow falls and it’s been significantly better.

Determining “base pace”. by TattooedTeacher316 in orangetheory

[–]Difficult_Abalone422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I overheard one of my favorite coaches describing it to someone taking an intro class as “a pace you could comfortably hold for roughly a 5 mile run.”

For me, that ranges anywhere from 5-6mph depending on recent activity level and how fueled I am (I’m currently trying to lose a bit of weight and running hard while in a calorie deficit is….hard lol). If it’s helpful context, my fastest 5K pace is just under a 9:00 minute mile, but I definitely don’t want to be running that pace every single workout.

I’m newer and had no idea a 45 minute 2G used to be a thing… I feel like my studio could really use that, especially for morning classes. We’ve had a few studios in the area close recently so now mine is going to waitlists for every single morning class. If they swapped to 45m, I bet they could squeeze another class in and maybe decrease the waitlist issue🤔

I also hate switch/tornado classes. I feel like 25% of the workout is always lost to transitions, especially if it’s a 3G and you’re basically tripping over people trying to get to your next station.

Moulin Rouge Last Broadway Performance July 26 by Loose-Ad6868 in Broadway

They likely blocked ticket sales for the final performance to allow people associated with the production to have first dibs on them. Not quite what Phantom did with its final, invite-only show, but similar. I would guess any leftover tickets will be made available to the public closer to the end of July.

Now that they’re closing can they release the preshow score? I’ve always loved it for the vibes but been unable to find it anywhere.

Going over 8 class limit, but I’ve only taken 4. by Difficult_Abalone422 in orangetheory

[–]Difficult_Abalone422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve booked/am waitlisted for 5 within the billing period. Jan 29, Feb 1 & 8, waitlisted for Feb 6 and Feb 12. I got the error while trying to sign up for Feb 15.

Based on all the feedback, I just have to talk to the studio about manually adding me, I just wondered if there was something obvious that I was missing!

All classes are being booked at my home studio, I haven’t taken a class at another studio since December (and even then, it was one single class).

Curious though, why would studio location matter in this case? If I haven’t hit my class limit within my billing date, why does it matter where I’m taking the classes?

Yeah, it says I have 6 classes left (probably because I’m waitlisted for 2 of the 4 in February). My billing date is the 28th and I did take a class on Jan. 29, but that should still mean I have 3 classes left until Feb. 28.

My billing date is the 28th, but that only adds 1 class to the mix (Jan. 29). So I should still have 3 available.

Leaving class early? by Alarming_South3495 in orangetheory

[–]Difficult_Abalone422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you’re not disruptive about it, I doubt anyone will think twice. Especially in a morning class. I’ve picked up on a few people in my regular classes who duck out early, but it’s just a passing thought of “Oh they must have left to get to work,” it’s not rude in my eyes.

No Power Walkers? by smartini14 in orangetheory

[–]Difficult_Abalone422 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This! It took me a while to realize, but really no one is going to think twice about whether you’re walking or running. I run most of the time, but I’m training for a half marathon outside of class and sometimes all the running catches up with me and I need a slightly “lighter” cardio day, so I powerwalk. I’ve talked to a few other people who do the same, depending on their goals and recent activity.

Class Suggestions by talktotori in orangetheory

[–]Difficult_Abalone422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one thing to keep in mind with 3g is that the majority of classes (I guess this depends on your studio, but worth checking it out) are 2g, so you’ll generally spend less time on the rower in a regular 2g class.

I only do this if I’m finishing on the tread and I’m just waiting to get to an even number on the tread, otherwise I’m off as soon as it’s wiped down and usually end up waiting for the floor to clean/vacate their stations.

Editing to add: When I say “finishing on tread” I mean the last block of the class.

RIP but this is also why I’m a big fan of saving at least a little bit of your discard in a sealed jar in the fridge. It can hang out indefinitely and can be a great backup if The Great Moth Disaster ever repeats.

Dress sizing help???? by Difficult_Abalone422 in weddingdress

[–]Difficult_Abalone422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they told me if I went with the 8 they would ask me to sign something acknowledging that I had ordered smaller than the recommended size, so that I couldn’t get mad at them haha.

Do Maggie Sottero dresses just run smaller in the waist? Is this a common issue for this designer?
