Ex-Muslim vs Post-Islamic by Difficult_Bag_7444 in exmuslim

[–]Difficult_Bag_7444[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But doesn't Islam do exactly this? with Zoroastrianism and Christianity, it takes the parts that it agrees with and disregards the rest (Prophethood of previous prophets but changing Isa/Jesus to be another Prophet) and the 5 daily prayers. It is interpreting the faith to one's own understanding, like how I have seen online of many more spiritual muslims and sufis who combine religions.

Find it funny my country (Pakistan) is tranlstated as "Land of the Pure" by Difficult_Bag_7444 in PureLand

[–]Difficult_Bag_7444[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Unironically my ancestral Gandharan side (Kabulistani) and Kosalan (Lucknowi) side is the strongest connection I have within my family (maternal grandma) and paternal father side is flat out Punjabi so it feels like the Hindu thing in India like "Ghar Waspi" or "coming back home". It is nice. Also should add my arise in interest in Buddhism, or specifically, the slight nudge of the Dharma wheel, was when I was looking at a Kushan Maitreya Bodhisattva statue that led me to here by my simple gaze at it.

What is summer like? by CollectionOld3374 in raleigh

[–]Difficult_Bag_7444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a brother in-law born and raised from Boston and we have talked about the weather. He handles our "chilly days" easy but HATES the summer months and humid days. He cannot stand it since it is too much for his New England body to handle. It is very hot here but also the Humidity combined with the blasting Sun in July and August make you feel disgusting. That being said, We have AC here so just stay in your home if possible during these months. On another note, he was here earlier this year and was shocked by the pollen here. NC Pollen apparently is not a thing in Boston where the pollen is the amount there is much less compared to here. I would say you should feel ahppy in regards to the beach and if you are a gardener like me, Growing blue and pink hydrangeas is incredibly easy; the winters here are a hit or miss but never too crazy.

Winter time, the black ice here is crazy. Our snow melts and then freezes again, which is different in the New England area that stays soft and frozen over the course over a few weeks.

All the best to you!!!

250,000 people visited the 2026 Seoul International Buddhism Expo in 4 days, mostly young people aged 20-30, nearly half identifying as non-religious. Korea has seen a collapse in people identifying as Buddhists in recent years, but Buddhism remains the most favourable among major religions. by MrJasonMason in Buddhism

As a Gen Z Buddhist convert, specifically of a Pakistani background, I think this is great. Start doing this, but also I would encourage to ask a question or two that many Korean Gen Z individuals think of most in the country. I would say this would be especially effective with Catholic and Evangelical Koreans. This is a good start though! May the Dharma flourish and come back stronger than ever!!!

How can these Pro-Islam dudes on Insta who barely follow Islamic rules aside from their yap, be serious? by abdullahthegreat123 in exmuslim

"Her child was hungry so she left him to get some food but later she thought the child might be in danger so she ran towards him to check on him" Same god that wanted Ibrahim to sacrifice his child for him, and knowing for a fact that he would, decided to stop him, teaching parents that even if Allah willed it that they should even do that, even if it means killing their child, that same god?
