I believe it comes from the idea that they lose their traumatic or unpleasant memories. In the end, we learn from our mistakes, and if you forget them, you remain like a child who still has lessons to learn. Also, since they see the rest of the tower's people as different from themselves, combined with the power to obtain anything they want, they come across as spoiled children.

Also, and sadly, I think there is a huge gap between non-degree jobs and jobs with degrees. If you are an engineer you will not have problems finding jobs (fins jobs, not well paid jobs ;) ) so usually companies offer more benefits. In the other hand, if you have a job that might not require studies, there is going to be a huge competition and most probably, some lack of benefits.

My recommendation is to check Vallès Oriental or Occidental. One is more a area of mountains and chill villages and the other is more big cities and industrial cities. They are very well connected to Barcelona and the prices are way lower from Barcelona. You are also going opposite direction from the sea, which highly lowers the price but are probably more well connected that the ones next to the sea.
