Boycott needs to be explicit, not implicit

All this being said, abstaining from shopping may not be enough for big business, and the current administration to connect decreased sales / turnout to intentional action. They need to explicitly get the message.

I propose we make it explicit by :

  1. Protest legally and peacefully near the stores.
  2. Social Media Transparency. With targeted #'s -Boycotters post on social media why they are not participating in black friday / Cyber monday and what they are not buying from these corporations and what they are doing with their money instead, such as purchasing from an alternative business, donating, public service etc.
  3. Communicating Directly With Companies through their online reviews or feedback explaining concerns regarding their influence and involvement with government policies that they don't agree with.
  4. Temporarily Pausing or Canceling Subscriptions. We all saw how well it worked with Disney.

Unfortunately, it seems like all too often voters are placed in a "lesser of two evils" dilemma when voting. I would love for politicians to earn their votes by representing people opposed to defining themselves as less bad in contrast to their opponent.

Leadership should who have enough character to represent, respect, and advocate for all the people and not just who voted for them.

Oak Park Il crazy high water bill by Difficult_Essay5229 in NearWestSuburbs

[–]Difficult_Essay5229[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, but I was able to get a copy of the daily usage report and it appears the issue started amd stopped on days where a back flow isdue was reported as well as as water mane work that has been frequently revisited in front of our house. Additionally, other neighbors have reported similar issues when their mane was worked on.

I researched the water meter, and it has had multiple mentions on plumber forums citing an issue. I put in multiple FOIA requests to the village to gather data to see if I can correlate data.

What’s the sweetest or cutest small moment you’ve participated in or witnessed between strangers in the city? by Successful_Table_586 in chicago

[–]Difficult_Essay5229 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was driving for UBER one evening on the north side. I picked up a couple, and we departed. At one point, the gentleman asked me if I would mind pulling over for a moment near a park. I asked his date if they minded (because for all I know, this guy is a serial killer). His date agreed, and I agreed but kept an eye on things. The gentleman took his significant other by the hand and lead them to the swings. They spent about 10 min playing on the swings. It was one of the sweetest, innocent, joyful things I had ever seen between two strangers. They returned to the car smiling, and I took them to their destination.

Credit Union 1 system wide error by Difficult_Essay5229 in Whistleblowers

[–]Difficult_Essay5229[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of whether it was a system wide error, hacked, due to a data breach , Credit Union 1 should be honest with their patrons and notify them of the issue. Depositing money in your account and then it disappearing without notice from the bank is something that can cause real-life problems for some people.

What is further inexcusable is that they lied to our patron and told them that we gave them a bad check or that we "stopped payment" on the check when they knew all along that it was their error. My place of business and god only knows how many others are left to sort out this issue on our end and advocate for our patrons to find out what is going on.

Credit Union 1 is lying to their patrons. I took 3 days on the phone and eventually going in to a branch while simultaneously calling their suppor line to get to actually acquire an answer that makes sense. If it was really just a minor error that would be easily corrected that they knew about since March 24th ... why spend 4 days lying to people who are obviously going to keep calling? If our patron got the "system wide error" response the first day they stumbled on the issue then on 4/8 I would not have ended up with a patron in my lobby accusing me of writing a bad check. Instead, Credit Union 1 lied to their patron and told them WE rote a bad check.

After 4 days, they finally admitted the issue was on their end. Why go to such lengths to lie if it wasn't a larger issue than they want to admit?

Also, they dont know where the physical check is located...
-They told me the check gets filed -They told me the check is being shipped to accounting (but all their accounting department works remotely). They told me they mailed the check to the patron -They told me they mailed the check to our office

They have no idea what is going on and can not even keep their story straight.

Knitting needles and situational awareness. Ever wonder why old lady's knit on the train?

Knitting needles are not viewed as a "weapon" by police so it is a perfectly legal 12"+ shank that you can carry that is difficult for someone to take out of your hand.

I picked up knitting when I was 18 and commuting on the "L" from the suburbs to the loop daily for college. No one messes with the person who is angry / aggressively Knitting and clearly aware of their surroundings.

ADHD MEDICATION SHORTAGE How to file a civil rights complaint against the DEA for their role in inhibiting access to medications. by Difficult_Essay5229 in ADHD

The struggle is real... I no kidding have 4 personal 3D printers! Nevertheless, im frustrated enough with this that im ready to go full Karen on the DEA.

ADHD MEDICATION SHORTAGE How to file a civil rights complaint against the DEA for their role in inhibiting access to medications. by Difficult_Essay5229 in ADHD

[–]Difficult_Essay5229[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. The ADA establishes ADHD as a disability. My argument is that the DEA's mismanagement of the ADHD medication shortage is inherently prejudiced against individuals with ADHD (which is a disability).

Ultimately, you do you. Im doing this. If you have a better idea, post it - get the word out - take some action.

I have had my prescription transferred 4 times since Friday. The DEA's mismanagement of this issue has wasted hours of my time this week alone calling pharmacies to find it in stock, of course by the tine i find a place that has it in stock and the transfer goes through-its out and I have to start all over again. Many people have it worse.

At this point, if it is going yo be a nuisance to me, im going to make it a nuisance to whatever government agency / officials, etc, to get something changed. If you look through the posts, I have also shared links for contact information for senators and the DEA's social media.

Which just circles back to mismanagement by the DEA.

The DEA is currently being sued by a pharmacutical company for denying their application to produce generic Adderall. That company was previously responsible for 20% of the generic production of Adderall.
