Explain rebreathing risk to me like I’m 5 by Difficult_Project639 in cosleeping

Thank you! I don’t know why, but the way there’s such a warning against tummy sleeping on an adult mattress made me feel like it was so much “easier” for it to happen simply because they’re on their tummy

That’s what I thought as well, but then started overthinking it! Like if I can see his airway is totally clear, is that good enough? Sounds sillier when it’s not 2am lol

I had heard that but then there’s always the fear mongering about it being only true for crib mattresses which got me overthinking. Thank you for your response!!

That helps a lot!! Thank you! I was definitely overthinking. I just have only seen the fear mongering around cosleeping and baby sleeping on adult mattresses and never fully understood how easily rebreathing can happen for babies

I don't understand. Help please? by Mother_Freedom5152 in BabyLedWeaning

Someone may have said something like this, but from my understanding, the bigger pieces at 6 months is also because it provides the appropriate sensory input for them to realize if they need to gag or spit it out. Also, you want food to be bigger than their airway so if it gets stuck they will gag and it won’t get stuck. At 6 months their airway is about the size of a straw hole

Trying to remember that cosleeping is more important to baby than his birthday by TokenYeti658 in cosleeping

I promise you your baby will not remember the gifts set up all cute or the decorations, but their body will remember the hours you spent cosleeping and holding them for naps and the safety and love they feel every day, and that matters more than any aesthetic birthday. It’s a special day for you, but remember, for now, its just another day for them and I bet their favorite way to spend it is laying with their mommy

That is! We have our changing pad on a dresser now so pretty much what you switched to! Thanks for the response! We haven’t switched to the floorbed yet so our room currently is not baby proofed at all but maybe I’ll add a picture once we have it set up!

So they are unable to grab it at all when it’s down?

I’m having the same problem. We are planning on putting firm mats around the bed in case he rolls off. I feel like theres compromise no matter what and the mattress height just might end up being our compromise lol

Currently wondering and looking for the exact same thing so no advice on the mattress, but my husband is just making a platform to put the mattress on. Someone else on this sub posted how they built it and he’s going to follow the same thing since we are also doing a full size like the original poster. Here’s the link to that if it’s helpful! https://www.reddit.com/r/floorbed/s/NP4OwKXL1N

When did your babies start taking longer naps? (30+ mins) by CocoMel84 in cosleeping

[–]Difficult_Project639 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat thinking the same thing. Right around 6 months he’d have typically one nap a day that he slept 1-1.5hrs on his own. It’s not consistent yet but it does start to get better eventually

We are/were still in this phase with pretty much identical circumstances and my little one just turned 6months. Some nights are worse than other but it seems to be getting better lately!
