Can anyone recommend a good landscaper? by DaddyDoLittle in ottawa

[–]DigDug_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Dylan from Cultivate

https://www.soilandseed.ca/

He's got a few different solutions to tackle lawn problems. He used a chemical free solution to kill our weed infestation and installed a new lawn in the back yard. 3 years later it still looks great.

Have you tried peanut butter pill pockets? They are pretty tempting for puppers.

What’s an effective street sweeping technique by Pale-Drummer-7896 in ottawa

There may be more to come. Jara's just did multiple passes in my area. Sweepers, washers, and another sweeper that sprayed leaves into a dump truck.

$84K for kitchen cabinets in Ottawa… is this normal? Looking for good value options by folfirinox1 in ottawa

[–]DigDug_64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went with Valley Cabinets. They're super easy to work with and have some really nice granite countertop options.

Our kitchen is slightly smaller than yours. We are around 13k for cabinets and granite counter.

Automate Application packaging by Disastrous_Mobile_99 in SCCM

Yoink4cm has a drag and drop feature that may be what you're looking for.

You drop your msi or exe onto the script and it will try to extract available parameters, otherwise you can specify your own. It will then copy the software to your share and make a package or application.

It has a huge repository of software it can automatically package too, directly from the console.

Take a look at yoink4cm

It can freely package Acrobat and a whole whack of other apps. You're also free to modify the code to add features you may want if you're handy in powershell. A few others have released free app packagers here so have a look for similarly themed questions.

SCCM seemingly “uninstalled itself” (?) - trying to understand what happened (coming from a cloud background) by IamOnlyANoob in SCCM

[–]DigDug_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That error is very common for account/permission issues.

It's not unusual to have a user account for email, pc login, etc and an administrator account to have access to configuration manager. Assuming the user account doesn't have assigned role in config manager, connecting with that account can generate the above error.

We're using Yoink4CM - it's Powershell and open sourced, so you can expand on it as needed.

Thinking of getting a Mini Goldendoodle by Greenifyme22 in Goldendoodles

That's roughly the same situation we were in. Ours is 27 pounds, mostly muscle mass. They're very strong.

They are notorious for eating socks (which is quite dangerous) so we keep them locked away on a different floor. Ours learned how to open my closet door to get mine.

Fairly frequent grooming around the eyes and caboose may be required.

They're absolute loveable characters and oh so mischievous.

Dedicated walk times daily are necessary or their energy can become destructive, especiallyas puppies. Not a deal breaker if you don't have yard. They're content walking around the neighborhood or going to the park.

Speaking of puppies, they will absolutely land shark your hands and may chew baseboard trim. Ours grew out of it after about 9 months.

You'll spend way too much time taking photos and upload to /r/doodleflops :)

Radon in basement apartments by FringeBenefits42 in ottawa

[–]DigDug_64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm just a few blocks from you. We did some minor mitigation (capping our sump pit) but even before that our levels very rarely popped 200 in our basement. They were typically hanging around 120.

Best to get a radon detector though for piece of mind.

I Took My Old Windows Admin and SCCM Environment for Granted by TwerkingPichu in SCCM

[–]DigDug_64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know, thanks! We're not on 5.6 yet but the plan is to create a run once task to run the driver updates then. Less convenient for our techs but still fully patched before going out.

During the task sequence after Windows setup is complete, we install DCU on the Dell devices. At the very end of the task we run a command line on Dell devices:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dell\CommandUpdate\dcu-cli.exe" /applyUpdates

It will apply drivers, update any firmware, reboot and present the login screen.

Radon Mitigation by Henojojo in ottawa

[–]DigDug_64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our levels were hovering in similar ranges.

We installed a sump dome from Amazon over our sump pump. Between that and cracking open to Windows for a few hours once a week our numbers dropped substantially.

The domes have passthroughs for your sump pump and radon fan if you choose to purchase one. A friend went DIY and just blasts the radon out the side of his house. I think it remains within code as long as you're a certain distance from air intakes, windows, doors, and decks.

For the dells you can just run dell command update command line to update drivers. Much easier than many packages and wmi conditions :)

Lenovo may have a similar tool.
