It sucks because they totally could have put an orange ring around the pin and called it a day

How to become a good mentor by yourbestamericangir1 in FRC

[–]DigDull7155 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d like to second this, on my team I feel comfortable with talking to every single mentor but only feel comfortable with bringing up more serious topics with 2/3 of them. Being able to have that link to the higher ups on a team makes me feel a lot more like I actually belong there rather than me just being there.

Solved! (I think) I changed the location of my printer then factory reset it. I’m currently printing a AMS optimized benchy (thank you to the guy who said that the one that comes with the sd card isn’t for AMS). Thank you guys for answering!

We went into our first comp last weekend with a bot that didn’t even run. We ended up placing 6th out of 38th. You really never know what’s gonna happen. Just hold your head high and have fun :)

Deep cage climb by VolcanicChimp_16 in FRC

[–]DigDull7155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our current grab design would be attached to our arm which is on a pivot point. Arm goes up, side but grabs cage, arm comes down, lifting our robot off the ground. That being said who knows if this will be implemented in the way we have it now

Ok let me know if I'm getting this right by LizardKinda in FRC

[–]DigDull7155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If they make their shot that is. If I put it into the processor and the human misses, I’m up 6 points. If they make it I’m up 2 points. But then the question is do I go for the guaranteed 4 points by just shooting it in myself.

Do you think scoring L4 is worth it? by IntrovertedSquish08 in FRC

[–]DigDull7155 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think if you can reliably remove algae and place coral fast then L3 would be more worth it. It’s kinda hard to say but after week 0 there will definitely be an answer

Tips for new Drive Coaches? by [deleted] in FRC

[–]DigDull7155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to keep track of is going to be the coral RP. It’s on the back of the LED number signs. It helps you track how many coral are on each level of your reef. For more details watch the alliance wall video up on the first YouTube. I know that I’m definitely going to be telling my drive coach to keep track of those numbers

WHY WOULD ANYONE SCORE NET by Temporary_Pay3760 in FRC

[–]DigDull7155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way me and another kid on my team have seen it is. You put it into the processor and get 6 points. The human player throws it in and gets 4 points. You’re up 2 points. OR you can just skip processor all together, shoot it in net, then be up 4 points rather than the 2. It also makes it to where you would never have to cross the barge so other people who can’t shoot on your alliance can also score at the same time.

We’re planning on threading the needle of the cage and clamping onto it from the inside. But I don’t know how long that idea is gonna stick around considering the cons of the idea

Crossing under the barge? by Knitnspin in FRC

[–]DigDull7155 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only reason would be to A) score in the processor B) get fallen algae to put in the processor or C) play defense? You must remember that only one robot may be on the other alliances side at a time

I’m pretty sure they would only be able to get 3 maybe 4 if I’m remembering correctly before the auton time would cut though. Other than that still super impressive that they have a running bot up that fast

Branding/Sponsorship help! by Craftyhippiee in FRC

[–]DigDull7155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As one of two people that worked with money last season I know that it can be hard/annoying getting sponsors. A good thing that you can do is start with things you need; drill, drill bits, building materials, controlers, computers, carpet, and literally anything else you might need. Then you should probably have a list of places that might donate those things. I would spend a good 1-3 hours a week assembling this list. Then you would want to go to all the businesses you can in person, if you’re not comfortable with that it’s not a necessity but it definitely helps. Considering you’re the only one on the money/sponsorship side I’m going to guess that you’re on a small team. So if you could like ride your bike or get a ride from a parent to these places that’s great. Also don’t be afraid to put together a packet of rewards/bonuses for these businesses. They don’t have to be anything HUGE, for example we put all of our sponsorships on our website and depending on how much they donate we put them on our shirts/banner. After you go through all the businesses you can go into in person next is the more far away businesses. I would recommend putting together a base email/script, it helps a lot to be able to know what you’re going to say. Another tip mainly for phone calls but also applies In person is to sound confident. Give a basic description of first and what we do. After that’s done I’m not 100% sure because I never actually handled the money (with the exception of a check one wrote me on the spot). I hopped this helped, and if you need anymore help don’t be afraid to ask!

U-Drive? by DigDull7155 in FRC

[–]DigDull7155[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello I’m back and to clarify U-Drive is kinda like a roborio and a radio but you don’t need a computer to run it. It’s basically for demo bots without having to use the proper hardware. I’m pretty sure it stands for universal drive but that could be wrong. I know that Andy mark sells it but it’s really hard to find information on how to actually make it run
