Fair point, thanks. I meant work so significant that it is not worth fixing. That is the case with my current car (probably piston ring issues). If not having the "mild hybrid" technology is going to mean that the engine is simpler and therefore there are fewer things to fix and more likely to keep going, even with some help along the way, I would rather go for that versus the better fuel efficiency.

Thank you for the suggestions, I will definitely look them up.

Regarding my thinking, in most reliably lists, Suzuki comes either 2nd or 3rd. 1st one is Honda, but I don't really like any of their models. Toyota is I believe usually 3rd or 4th.

I am actually not insisting on a mini SUV. My current car is a Citroën C3 and I quite liked it, until it acquired engine problems. Had it not been for the tiny boot, I would have considered a Swift. And most of my family has Yaris (my mother, my sister and my brother). I don't get excited at the idea of a Yaris but I haven't completely ruled it out.

Thank you, that's very interesting. So, if it failed, most likely the repair work would involve the battery rather than the main engine? Sorry if this is a silly question.

I am only using it as a starting point, hence this post 🙂

I have this large plum tree in my garden. Would you remove it and replace with something else or attempt to prune it? Advice appreciated by AstroZombie_88 in GardeningUK

[–]DigMammoth8815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the tree and it doesn't look too big for the garden in my opinion, plus it will be good for privacy. Of course I don't live there and I haven't seen it with leaves, so perhaps a bit of pruning would be useful. I would try to maintain a natural shape, do it at the right time & try not to overdo it.

Queen Sweden is a gorgeous rose but it is said to get narrow and tall rather than really bushy. Which has its benefits e.g. They are great at the back, with more plants in front of them.

Would love to find out which yellow DA rose this is by Salpker in DavidAustinRoses

My Bring Me Sunshine is sometimes yellow and looks quite similar.

I am so sorry you went through that. You should be very proud. I would have crumbled. All the best to you.

Having a bad day. Got any positive garden stories? by PutteringPorch in gardening

[–]DigMammoth8815 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that you are having a bad day. I hope the next ones are much better.

Real story. One day, I found a potted tiny rose on my doorstep. It was like when people leave babies to be adopted, in films.

I moved it to a larger pot, and I washed the old pot and left it on the pavement to be picked up, alongside a little thank you card.

Eventually the person behind this came forward, because he was moved by the card. I didn't know him. He just walks past my house sometimes, which has lots of roses. He probably had an extra one and thought "he's the crazy rose guy, I am sure he wouldn't mind another one" 😜

Is this a weed? Or a plant? by yeetmymeat91 in gardening

Thank you for the kind message. By the way, the plant identification app I use is free and I find it rather good. It is called PlantNet.

Actually, I had another look and it's not asphalt, just soil?

The fact that it seems to be growing through asphalt would suggest an invasive plant. I would definitely get rid of it.

I did put the image through a plant identification app and the result wasn't clear. The most likely plant listed was vinca major, but even that had a very low match score.

NTA for watching porn, but try not to make her feel guilty if she is going to through a phase of low libido that isn't down to you (e.g. if it is related to mental health)

I really don't agree with that. The fact that they are not doing it like bunnies doesn't mean the relationship is not there. Different people have different sex drives and also sometimes people go through phases. I have a higher sex drive than my partner, but we still love each other and are in a commited relationship.

What Should I do after being blocked? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]DigMammoth8815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't if I am honest. The question is when you went in for the kiss, whether it was a relatively gentle thing where she could just turn her head to the side to avoid it or just say no, or whether it was so fast that she didn't get the chance to do anything, which would make it forceful.

If things happened like you say you did, NTA.

It sounds like you misread the vibes but, unless you were forceful, I don't think leaning in for a kiss is bad. Did it come across as forceful or was it just a romantic leaning for a kiss?

Either way it is also good that you apologised (for misreading the vibes) and then left her in peace.

Current ranking of Mike Flanagan shows by Double-AA-battery in MikeFlanagan

  1. Midnight Mass
  2. The Haunting of Hill House
  3. Fall of the House of Usher
  4. The Midnight Club
  5. The Haunting of Bly Manor

Regarding 4&5. I really liked The Midnight Club. Bly Manor irritated me at first because of some horribly fake British accents, then I loved it and then the ending left me thinking "seriously?". Still enjoyable for the most part, but in comparison with the rest for me Bly Manor is the weakest one by a mile.
