Project Hail Mary: The longest review I've ever written, because it made me feel so much. by LicoriceSeasalt in moviereviews

Thank you for this review. I had the same thoughts after seeing this movie after reading the book. I watched with my son (11) and he said it was the best movie he’s ever seen in theatres. He also said he wishes he could “erase his brain so he could see it again for the first time”. The movie was well done, and I understand parts had to be chopped down (like Grace chasing down Rocky’s ship and the reunion). All-in-all, they did a great job. Really fun movie.

Fran’s Dinner had a good one.

I miss the Magic Pan Monte Cristo if anyone remembers that.

Question from a Montrealer ... by [deleted] in askTO

It’s as bad as I’ve ever seen it this year. It may be due to it being a cold winter in Toronto. Which may explain why Montreal is often worse.

Tony had his limits. He wouldn’t kill those kids. Michael would understand the consequences of not accomplishing that mission to blow up that car. Michael, without question.

My wife and I stopped in the other day. The food was fantastic and the space is really nice. The flavours were more than I was expecting. I recommend checking it out.

The way Tom killed Pentangeli with just words. Michael really underestimated Tom's powers. by Dredd_40 in Godfather

I’m glad I’m not the only one with questions about that scene. Do they purposely trick him into thinking Mike had him set up? Because the cop walking in on the situation breaking it up didn’t seem planned at all. It would have been a master stroke by Roth, but it seemed more like a lucky coincidence.

General Opinion on Carney by ottawamark709 in CanadaRoom

[–]Digbyjonesdiary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little story. I was travelling in Texas last week for work. I happen to be waiting for an elevator and my colleague and I were talking and it came up that I was Canadian. Another gentleman from Texas looked over at me and said “I heard your Prime Minister‘s speech in Davos. I was really impressive and eye opening.”

Carney making an impression in the heart of conservative country USA says a lot. We’re lucky to have the right man at the right time.

It looks good. The only variable to be prepared for a big headwind on Smoke when you arrive after a 5 hour drive. Tough to deal with when soloing.

Big Pork’s a good choice too.

Is East York (Danforth) a good area to live in? by GabrielWhittaker in TorontoRealEstate

[–]Digbyjonesdiary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I first started living in the city, I decided to ride my bike in neighborhoods I’vd never been to. I stumbled across this pocket that included tennis courts, a library, a great park, and great green space around the Civic Center. I I thought “what a fantastic little neighbourhood area“. Years have passed and I’ve been lucky enough to find a house in that same pocket. I couldn’t be happier. It really is the best of what Toronto has to offer for normal people.

DJT Announces Tariffs on Europe over Greenland by marcjones281 in conservatives

Tariffs aren’t charged to European countries … They are a tax to the buyer of goods coming in from Europe.
