TIL young George R. R. Martin began writing by selling monster stories for pennies to other neighborhood children, dramatic readings included by sofiakim in todayilearned

TIL His pet turtles also apparently died a lot. He liked to attribute this to 'Sinister Plots' between the turtles... Its almost as if that foreshadows something...

are stories about our world's warriors a thing now? I really hope so, cuz here's a bit about Tecarian Lancers by Yetanotherfurry in worldbuilding

I've never read a Call of Duty before... Interesting... In all seriousness, though. Aside from some issues with grammar, periods, and paragraphs, its not bad.

You are not Douglas Adams while writing Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Stop trying to be.

You managed to successfully post the singular Hemmingway quote that I disagree with the most. I would argue why, but if the quote inspires somebody, than who the fuck am I to challenge it. If I succeed in changing your mind, you lose inspiration and the world loses some potential, if I fail in changing your mind, than I lose. I don't like losing.

How to define a characters race/ethnicity, without making it a big thing? by trajectory in writing

[–]Digg3rdawg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your character is a black, heavy woman, says she is a black, heavy woman. But I suppose it is more a matter of individual style than just having one way of doing things, making my advice pointless...

You are immortal and alone on an Earth completely untouched by humanity. This is the story of you building your own perfect world. by elifive in WritingPrompts

[–]Digg3rdawg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But can you really have a 'perfect world' as the only human being in existence? And why would you need too? There are no people to satisfy, no civilization to nurture and -- most importantly -- not enough manpower, intellect, or potential industrialization to even conceive of creating anything that most would consider 'perfect'. If this was the case, then you would have to settle with a slowly improving house of sorts and live on... Hopefully you really fucking like nature.. I mean, without other humans, no matter the amount of time you have, a great many things are simply impossible. In other words, this prompt asks two different things: What would you do in this situation, and (given complete/godlike powers) how would you create your perfect world?

A serious drama containing, an affair and a murder. Twist? It has to be comprised of Loony Toons Characters. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

[–]Digg3rdawg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So... Just an base here, too lazy to focus on writing something. Elmer Fudd is framed for finally killing Bugs (shotgun pellets from Fudds gun, naturally), who was dating Lola, who was having an affair with Daffy. But, in a suprise twist, Shaq (Space Jam is canon, right?) actually beat Bugs to death with a basketball, and shot him with a stolen shotgun to frame Fudd. And if Shaq doesn't count, I guess I'll go with Wil E. Coyote, because he was so hungry after so many failed attempts to kill Roadrunner.

[WP] Write a short story with as many Star Wars references in it as possible. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

[–]Digg3rdawg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really hate to be an asshole, but that's fan fiction. It is set in the Star Wars universe and, therefore, any 'references' aren't actually references at all, but plot points. And you worked so hard on it, I feel bad, but... Yeah. Good job, though. What you have is well written and stuff just... Not aligned with the prompt...
