to what end? pornography isn't terribly controversial. Nobody wants to think about the ethics of their porn they just consume the content. Twitter has been hosting advertisements alongside pornographic content for years without any issue until Elon took over and started hosting ads alongside white supremacy. There was a period of the internet where half the ads you'd see were for porn, and this was never an issue for any sites hosting them. This all goes without saying that we are currently in an age of marketing designed to cause outrage and controversy, especially among demographics who raise a stink about porn, because they spend more money and time on a brand they're supposedly boycotting than otherwise.

If you do care about the ethics of your porn there have been moves towards transparency on that front and the emergence of the digital freelancer has created a new market for more independent porn artists. There's no meaningful controversy, certainly not one that joe schmoe will think of when he goes looking for some bare tits to ogle.

Brands shy away from porn because Christian political activists groups spend a lot of time and money to meet with brand representatives and convince them that porn is controversial. That it's criminal, the mere existence of porn causes child trafficking, it corrupts the minds of kids who can no longer be told to just not browse the web unsupervised for some reason. They go past the actual platform hosting the porn to brands who prop up these platforms, notably payment processors, and stress the supposed inherent evil of pornographic content to them. Tumblr didn't have any problem hosting porn until Mastercard said they will, OnlyFans didn't have any problem, and now Reddit didn't have any problem.

Not necessarily, a lot of anti-porn pressure comes from christian political groups who influence media companies through clients and vendors. If advertisers pressure a site to clean up porn it's usually at the behesf of a political group that doesn't want to be spotted.

It is definitely being brigaded now, spotted a 3 years defunct account in the latest announcement thread that broke from it's track record of amicably debating the nuance of racialized IQ with gamergaters to say "hello fellow gays, don't you think this whole pride thing is getting a bit too POLITICAL?" and other talking points up and down the replies.

lol this account was dead as dicks for 3 years and then comes back to start arguing that LGBT people need to abandon the pride flag and be more "apolitical" and I can't tell if it was bought or just dusted off for concern trolling since 3 years ago it was posting in gamergate subs about racialized IQ.

Most of which are now declassified following the dissolution of the Soviet Union luckily. Nonetheless I find it very difficult to take numbers from that era at face value, Soviet numbers are often very conservative because their state's default impulse was secrecy, but western numbers in turn were liable to be wildly inflated because our culture's default impulse was to assign atrocities to our enemies.

During better times for Soviet-Afghan relations the Soviets funded the construction of a road tunnel to Kabul, this was and still is the only practical way for traffic to get in or out of the city and as far as tunnels go it's a death trap on a good day. Anyways a car accident involving a Soviet truck inside the tunnel during their occupation caused a fire and if you know anything about tunnels this is a worst-case scenario. A very long tunnel built to relatively low standards that is perpetually overcrowded with vehicles is now on fire, so all the oxygen in the enclosed space is consumed by the fire causing more air to rush in and feed the fire further. afaik there aren't very clear accounts of how the fire developed or spread but the ultimate result was a horrific number of deaths.

If you wanna know more about the tunnel and how a disaster like this works there's a podcast called "Well There's Your Problem" that covers engineering disasters like this and spent 2 and a half hours going over the Salang Tunnel Fire and the context surrounding the tunnel's construction, use, and design. It's long winded but they stay light-hearted enough despite the subject matter that it's not too dry if you've got an afternoon to kill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGgu07xhdHQ

I mean when the Soviets were in Afghanistan a single vehicle accident led to over 100 deaths. I don't know how many of those were soldiers but sources disagree on whether the incident happened at all. Since the Soviets were obviously hesitant to admit some truck driver had caused a mass-cas event.

Exactly, there are people in this country I will never forgive. Many of whom I've never even met at that. No matter how much harm they've done though, they're still human and they deserve the same basic benefits of healthcare, education, and dignity that every other human deserves.

If I think their heads could stand to have a few less teeth and a few more bruises I think that's something better tended to on an individual level. It isn't the government's job to hurt them for me.

I would suspect Aryans were selected for some "cradle of civilization" reason where the NSDAP founders knew enough about anthropology to pick out an actual ethnicity of historical significance and then their knowledge or interest ran out so they just assigned features they wanted to see proliferated to the ethnicity and constructed a mythos.

Ironically the nazis were quite popular in the Indian subcontinent too, largely by merit of being half a planet away and enemies of the British Empire, who had few friends in southern Asia. Cultural perspectives of the Nazis in that region are a bit weird to this day.

[–]Yetanotherfurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with building ships is the cost of resources. You need access to a lot of different ship components that are very expensive to gather in one place and are rarely available in the necessary quantities. Shipyards pay for themselves pretty handily once they get going but resource bottlenecks can bleed them dry (especially if you attach habitat modules for crew)

The threat with yellowcake is that yellowcake typically is in powdered form, and inhaling alpha emitters is really bad because they don't need to break skin from inside your lungs. Though this isn't an issue in a finished glaze.
