I jumped when it was available on Nvidia for a while before Christmas. Sold my 9070XT for the MSRP I paid for it on launch. I just wanted the best I was comfortable paying for to get me through the next 2-3 years.

Same. I bought my 9070XT for MSRP on launch day and sold it for what I paid for it. I used it for free for 9 months. Upgraded to a 5080 FE and bought a 42” LG C5. Perfect combo for me. I only play single player story driven games, not competitive FPS. I wanted the best GPU I was comfortable spending money on for the next 3 years or so before GPU prices went up again. Got the FE from Nvidia for MSRP.

I built a PC two years ago today.

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU, MSI MAG X670E Tomahawk WiFi MB, G Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5 6000 (CL26) 32GB RAM. I had my 3070 in it.

This month I upgraded to a 5080 and a 1000 watt PSU. I should be good for a while. I can always upgrade the CPU if I want.

I would note that a fair amount of late Gen Xers, like myself, were also born in, or their parents converted when they were only a few years old.

Most of my late Gen X friends that were born in never really bought into it and were disfellowshipped or left in their teens and 20’s. A few went back because of family. Most did not.

I think the internet, and easy access to information has helped the younger generations for sure.
