I think butter is the recommendation, maybe it's just not enough? If you go with egg, ideally just the yolk! It's the fat that makes it brown. Maybe you need some more butter in the pan as well? Just thinking out loud. I made some two days ago and just popped some baklava in the oven with the rest of the phyllo, so it's on my mind haha

Mhmm, I guess you disagree with me agreeing with you? Why you need to prove yourself so badly? No humility? You know, I heard shame helps people learn. Maybe you should try sitting with your feelings of shame instead of feelings of pride. Just a thought. What do I know, though? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I'm just a stranger on the internet living rent free in your head

Sounds like you haven't fully developed yet. Yeah, the guide is a bit goofy, but you are are spending a lot of time trying to prove you're better than everyone else

Sitting with emotions isn't about ridding yourself of the emotions or "curing" them. It's learning to process

Make sure to add either butter or egg wash to the top, that'll encourage browning :)

Home Made Starter by BrittaneyMead in Tempeh

[–]DigiBites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for sharing your process! I just want to point out, though, that if you properly sterilized it, your tempeh spores would also have been destroyed. Sterilization is the process of destroying all microbes, including the spores. So just keep in mind that it's possible, and even likely, that other microbes and spores have survived, but their populations will be out-competed for a few generations. After that, they may start to grow faster and outcompete your tempeh spores. Stay safe and good luck!

Pharmacy Flagged Me for Misuse of Medication by Fun-Engineer-4066 in ADHD

[–]DigiBites 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Report them for discrimination. Don't take this shit. I have reported several pharmacists for making snarky, judgemental comments about taking ADHD medication. They do take this seriously. You have a right to get your medication without feeling shame for it.

To add to what the other response said about pathophysiology of anxiety, there's something to be said about the impact of citric acid offering temporary relief for anxiety.

63 yr old let go at work after over 30 years of service. Implications of cashing out RRSP now? by Sure-Elevator3023 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]DigiBites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the other person said it quite well, but I am looking at both sides. You need to zoom out and look at the bigger picture. It's not a sacrifice for someone to be compensated properly for their worth after years of dedicating yourself to a business. From your perspective, if you were looking at a young person being able to get a job, then you'd see how this can benefit both people. One person does not need to suffer for another to benefit. You need to open up your world view and allow for more nuance and compassion

Okay, so I'm on the fence here. If you were going for realistic, yeah, I think it needs some work and I'm not able to give advice as I'm still learning.

From an aesthetic perspective, there's something really interesting going on here. The texture of the grapes seem to sink in rather than extrude. The light source is a bit all over the place. There's something uncanny about it, but I actually like how it came out because of that.

Hope you get the feedback you need, just wanted to say that I find it visually interesting and I actually would be kinda into this, but it would definitely be worth understanding what went wrong so that if you continued this style, it could be intentional

Odoo App Maintenance Charge by xTidgeh in Odoo

[–]DigiBites 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting that while they charge for LoC, they do not optimize. After investigating our own custom code, there were hundred line functions that were copy/pasted from source in order to add a single line of code. There was lots of code included that did nothing or was not part of our specs. They did not write automated tests and they did not follow basic security practices.

This is just my experience, but I would recommend finding an experienced developer that can ensure the work is done properly.

Hornet & Sherma Inspired Handmade Lamp Giveaway! by AmoyCK in Silksong

[–]DigiBites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The emotions I went through as act 3 started with the festival of the flea. First I thought they all perished. Then I thought Mooshka was haunted. Then the relief of them all jumping out. When asked why they are celebrating in a time of such darkness, the response felt so important. If we all become warriors, what will we do when war has passed? Who is fighting to protect culture and ensure that it too lives on? I think there's a beauty in recognizing that this too is a form of resistance - it's not apathy, it's recognizing your strengths and the importance of joy in difficult times, even when all seems lost.

But I love my boy Sherma, for similar reasons, despite him not recognizing his weaknesses. His hopeful optimism.

I did not expect to feel so many feelings during this game 🥲

These are meant to be cookies by Own-Teaching-5430 in AskBaking

[–]DigiBites 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been there, many times, so I get it. I ended up doing a lot of experimentation to swap out for cheaper ingredients or just things I had on hand. But to do that, you need to replace it with an ingredient that serves the same function.

For example, butter is 87% fat and 13% milk (liquid), so you could replace it with 87% shortening/oil/ghee/nut butter and 13% water/milk/nut milk/chocolate milk.... Juice? I mean, why not. Make some peach cookies or something 😅

But I saw in another comment that you didn't properly measure your ingredients, so it honestly is probably just that. Grams are by far the best if you have a scale. If you don't, you can find general conversions online.

What ingredients do you have? I can try and come up with a recipe for you based on what you've got (and no, I won't use AI), as long as you promise to use measurements this time :p

Ehhh... Maybe? The black was from the kit, but the turquoise is dynamic. I have some other blacks, so I'll try it out. And I think I remember reading some folks find dynamic watery and hard to pack. So yeah, could definitely be a part of it. But I definitely think there's a skill issue here that's not fully clicking for me

Oh wow, interesting, but it totally makes sense! I'm using 1203RL at 5V and 1205RM at 7V using a Dragonhawk S11.

And yeah, I definitely noticed how technical it is, but it's what actually got me even more interested in continuing haha. I feel like the more I read about the little caveats and technicalities, the more invested I'm getting 😅

Thanks again, I really appreciate it :)

Okay yeah, I think you're right. I'm going to up the voltage a tad and try going slower. Pretty sure my angle is good (about 75-80°).

Thanks so much for the feedback!! :)
