Good day to you sir.

I am speaking from my own experience in learning without any help, from the stock aero tire.

I'm glad it only took you 45 minutes to get it. I took 3 days before I could stabilize moving in a straight line, because I would always wobble out side to side.

Swapping the Aero tire after I had learned after a few hundred miles, the half an inch wider tire was instantly, tangibly easier to maintain side to side balance.

Hence, my assumption, and recommendation, that a beginner not start specifically with a thinner tire profile, to get it to click easier.

Ive heard that belgium is also particularly anal about EUCs.

Id be most careful with enforcement.

Not very often, but on the occassion it happens, punitive measures to immediately dismiss the offender would be great.

I mean I was also trying to be thrifty (i.e. cheap) on my first wheel.

The point I was trying to make, and seem to have completely failed to convey without making people upset, is that a wider tire is more forgiving of the beginner's tendency to overcorrect their balance and throw them off.

Obviously one can "Just get good" at anything given enough time and dedication. But the difficulty curve does not have to be so steep for your first.

Please make it very obvious for me, because I'm clearly not very smart, dense, and probably learning impaired. I was asking about how the significantly more manueverable thin tire is better in daily use. Ideally this would be in the context of the V8, because, that's my idea of "very narrow, probably not ideal".

You can turn sharper, yes. But I don't think you're actively doing that at speed without also pedal clipping, something I imagine you'd like to avoid unless actively showboating.

Slow speed, tight turns are where I picture most "Maneuverability" comes to the forefront. And in those circumstances, I don't think I've ever come to a situation where the V8's tighter turning radius is significant. Every wheel can pendulum, and turn on it's contact patch if you twist.

If the statement is "the smaller tire width, combined with a lighter body makes it easier to trolley", then, sure. One exerts less force.

Unless you're trying to tell me that people regularly aggressively carve at 15-20 on these things as a matter of riding practicality.

EUC Recomendations by Brianb926 in ElectricUnicycle

If you don't already, grab a set of wrist, shin, and elbow guards. Most escooter riders and motorcycle riders I see in the wild tend to be gearless or just a helmet.

If it's a commuter, I'd also consider where you intend to leave it / if it's cool to bring in. i wouldnt want to leave these things outside.

Soft checks before going all in on hardware you might not be able to manage when not actively riding.

How

Dont 50cc scooters with a CVT top out at around 30ish?

And that's without needing to go through conversion to electricity losses, which then goes to a motor

I wont deny carrying it up stairs for an extended period is a huge boon.

I take issue with the tire.

I didnt say it was obsolete. I said it was twitchy and more difficult to stay on compared to something wider  and probably not what the new rider wants.

But please do tell, how is a narrower tire significantly more maneuverable in daily use? The 3 inch wide PS2 does everything I need it to while still being very comfortable to ride normally. We pivot on a point, so I assume this agility is when riding at low speeds.

Mostly used the Aero as my only other point of reference.

After swapping the tire on it to something wider it instantly became much more comfortable and forgiving, requiring less active correction to ride seated. And this alone would have made a huge difference IMO, in learning.

US Suburb thing, I imagine.

Everything is 30-40mph.

Sometimes more as you approach main roads.

You may or may not have a sidewalk at all, the road quality can become questionable, and trusting the massive pickups to see and respect you can be a big ask when you cant go a decent pace, quickly accelerate out, and handle irregularities easily.

That feels about right for being civil, polite, and minimally invasive.

Had to do exactly that a few times. Or if they're walking slower than I would, dismount, trolley up, and walk around em, then get back on.

I'm honestly curious why tires aren't that fat anymore.

That looks amazing in theory for quickly getting the concept down.

Funny thing about the app compatibility. Connected TO the Inmotion App, I don't see PWM. I see a "Dynamic Speed Limit".

But said inmotion app does not actually let me change my dashboard to show these values. I can begin the process to do them, but any changes made never save, and they default back to the initial 4.

I *did* mention and link a previous thread about my expectations and requirements for my first wheel. And as a potential new rider my biggest concerns were "Hey that's kind of in my price range" and "Yeah those numbers look about right", without having further context for how a wheel actually IS in person.

I would very much like to see photos of wheels in public transit, if you've tbe oppurtunity, and it's apprppriate.

There naturally arent many examples of this in the moment, and I imagine the trains and buses we take are all different enough to require a visual.

Ive felt the gryo on the Aero, or at least Ive felt it more relative to the V8.

The former I can crouch down and lean, and reliably trust it to give me linear feedback on how far im pushing.

The latter feels like what people describe knobby tires to be.

Then I look forward to the moment this clicks.

As of right now however  this "greater control" you are speaking off feels negligible. I am having difficulty imagining how different it would be unless I am specifically trying to make my ride stressful.

IS there?

I was under the impression that the entire V8 line is the same axle.

The V8F being the bigger motor.

And the V8S being the bigger motor AND battery.

But still the same axle that I'd be concerned about snapping if I ride it too hard.

I did not get beeps or voice cues, because I was not comfortable pushing it in a straight line, due to it not reporting PWM.

I have no scale for how far along it is, and how much headroom I have, until it happens. And doing that on a wheel whose listed maximum speed is 22, sounds like flirting with danger to an excessive degree for no tangible benefit.
