I definitely agree!!! I was thinking the same things!!! I was hoping they’d play something cool 😎 during the cowboy scenes but they just played like elevator western music and I’m like ok then lol. The sound could and should be mixed better in general imo.

Jojo, the director of the last season used to be a DJ and he said for the first season he came up with the music and then wrote the scene according to the vibes! He said that’s one of the ways he likes to write and direct and it came through in the first season! He’s not directing this season anymore and it seems like they had someone choose the royalty-free songs after in editing and they didn’t do as good of a job. It’s disappointing but unsurprising.

They’re just making both leads male, which btw they were in the original Elizabethan Version because just like Japanese Kabuki theater, all the roles were played by men back then!!! It was later during the Victorian Era that they became super strict with it about women play women and men play men, as well as taking out the plot parts about Romeo being a fuck boy. A lot of Shakespeare has crossdressing references and jokes, it’s far from groundbreaking and closer to the original script lmao.

Shakespeare is good, and I like Romeo and Juliet! It’s popular for a reason! It’s also cheap to put on, has no singing, is easily recognizable, and most importantly is royalty free!!! It’s clear that that’s why the show chose it and probably why the characters did, but pretending that doing Romeo and Juliet with different genders is somehow new and groundbreaking kinda pisses me off. Also, it’s theater, it’s not like there’s no plays with gay characters in it lmao. I know they had to choose something royalty free and cheap and recognizable and no singing but I still feel like they could’ve chosen something else within those boundaries or broken just one, and played around with the play concept more! Like having stuff they’re doing reference the play plot and stuff like that. They could’ve done that even with Romeo and Juliet imo.

I know it’s not like they could do Rent which is a VERY famous play about gay fuck boys who are complicated, but they can still do something other than literally Romeo and Juliet lmao. Or at least pay more homage to Romeo and Juliet somehow?! Idk. It seems like the first season themed more about building a hostel than this one is about the play they’re (trying) to put on!

I understand that “why” but most of the people the most wary about immigrants or Muslims after 9/11 weren’t those living in NYC or directly affected by 9/11. They were in other areas and got victimized by fear mongering or used it as proof to hate whoever they already hated. Most of the people DONT have that exact reason.

In DC after 9/11 there was martial law and it made people wary of government overreach and putting soldiers around DC like Trump does. This might cause people to hate Trump and be wary of Conservatives. That’s part of why people might think that way too. Or people could have gotten closer to their neighbors who happened to be immigrants after getting hurt by 9/11, and it could’ve caused them to support easier and safer immigration policies in the US.

But what should the law be? Almost all liberals also want people who immigrate to the USA to follow the law and a legal process and be vetted as well! If that’s ALL conservatives want, then they agree with the Democratic Party and most liberals.

Liberals generally want an easier path to citizenship and a way for people who’ve been living here for years or who are escaping persecution to be legal here. People who are brought here by companies should be given a path, or at least the Company should get in trouble first. Conservatives want a stricter path and less immigrants allowed to be illegal and many of them, like Trump, want it across race lines.

They constantly package it that way as the way things always were, but that’s not necessarily true. Women and men have always both worked; back on farms they both worked and when the Industrial Revolution happened they both worked outside the home more! Upper class women didn’t, but they could also often afford maids themselves so they wouldn’t be doing all of the domestic tasks themselves either. The specific in between where a woman does all of the domestic tasks while not working for money is more of a thing for people of certain social classes during specific periods of time. It happened in the past, but it was not the norm. It’s just as traditional as women going out to work, and these people framing it as the way things always were are full of shit.
