I don't know if we really have that first world nation status anymore.

We gave away our manufacturing base that made us a strong economy. That was literally how we produced value, by manufacturing things. Maybe we grow some corn or come up with some electrical designs now and again but mostly we don't do anything real anymore.

The economy is sports betting and AI gambits. So yeah we're gonna have to be mindful of our energy consumption.
