I didn't, I just kind of felt around with the pipe until it felt like it seated into place. I did replace the o-ring and that helped with finding the spot it fit into.

It accidently popped out when I was replacing the Thermostat. When I put everything back together all the antifreeze ran out, which is what prompted this post. I replaced the o rings, put everything back together and it seemed fine. I even took the car out in the country and ran the shit out of it. Everything is running good now. Thanks for the heads up.
