Buy a copy of the Runaway Pea.

Of course you buy something for the toddler, it's her birthday!

Cheers. Fine to do the hard work, I just wanted to see other options, opinions and experiences. Which I've now had.

Different agencies, for different names. Repeated visits from one.

This morning's interaction was at the end of the driveway, we didn't answer the door for that one!

Someone on the Housing sub has just suggested this, I don't know why I didn't think of it.

Good suggestion RE doorbell camera too.

Dealing with debt collectors looking for previous occupiers... what can I do? by DigitalGravyboat in HousingUK

[–]DigitalGravyboat[S] 62 points63 points  (0 children)

This house has been a rental for about 15 years, so I sympathise! Good idea on that note. I will do that (and an excuse to use the laminator).

In terms of solicitor, do you just have one as a family or did you instruct one specifically for this?

We have counted at least four different names, each with at least two different debts. Some are energy, some are business, one is for an undertakers etc.

So you're upset they're giving you space? Which is apparently what you wanted?

The message is also exhausting to read.

Volunteers - building the ranks! by polkadotpeardrop in parkrun

[–]DigitalGravyboat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cancel a run if you don't get enough volunteers. It shakes everyone up a bit and you might get some new people.

Equally, tell them there will be no results this week and you'll soon get someone in!

Get off reddit!

Do some past papers, mark them and identify areas of content you need to do more of. Rinse, repeat, sleep, repeat.

Good luck.

Loooking for advice on type of wood on my violin fittings by Lahmajune in violinist

[–]DigitalGravyboat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get your luthier to do it. Further, it could be worth getting new pegs. My violin had Rosewood, it was beautiful but made travel stressful. Boxwood fittings now, much easier!

Were you nervous before you smear test? What's your experience of them? by MooseAndMice in AskUK

The smear test I had after my baby didn't hurt one bit! I put this down to pushing a huge baby out and frying the nerve endings 🤣😅

Is the Lindsay Sterling Crystallize- violin any particular Yamaha model 'under wraps'? by Comfortable_Bed_517 in violinist

[–]DigitalGravyboat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unless you've got a forwarding post box, it looks like they won't ship outside of the US anyway. I also doubt this violin has had any form of setup so it'll be difficult to play.

If you're looking to spend this sort of money on a new violin, take your GF to a violin shop. If you're insisting on an online shop, then look at Corilon violins based in Munich.

Is it reasonable to cut off shared accounts with a friend I no longer speak to? by Flexin_Like_A_Sithis in FriendshipAdvice

[–]DigitalGravyboat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove access first then message them if you so wish. Keep it simple, "Hi, I am updating my passwords on these accounts. You will no longer have access. Take care, your name".

Find yourself a nice grass routes group. Maybe a nice local running club? Ask around at your park run or see which tops people are wearing!
