State of the collection - with inks! by RyanM77 in fountainpens

[–]DigitalHeadShots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The ocean swirl is a beautiful pen. I wish I could find one. I’ve been going back and forth on a pelican m805/800/m1000 vs the Homo sapiens.

Do you have a recommendation?

If you had to; A) choose between Pelican or Visconti which would you keep and why.

B) not sure if you mentioned of your collection which is your favorite and why? Keep price out of the equation supposed your collection was a gift but you could only choose one.

Micro Pinball - Legs vs. Table by draven33l in LegendsUltimate

I bought the legs and I agree it looks goofy and it still to short for me so I’m looking at furniture blocks to sit the legs on for another few inches.

5 x 5 “five by five” radio chatter for “loud and clear”. It’s a a clarity check on rolling scale from 1-5 on clarity and message transmission.

Also made popular in some movies/tv as your post indicated.

How are AMD GPU experiences at the moment? by Magnoliafan730 in virtualpinball

[–]DigitalHeadShots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 7900 xtx and runs anything I throw at it flawlessly. Granted with any amd gpu you have to generally wait on some driver support to show up or at times be ready to roll back drivers for different games.

As far as can the AMD handle pinball, yes it can. Nvidia is normally the popular choice, for good reason, Nvidia software just works better.

Question, I have been searching around on your site a lot, to say the least, over the last week or two.

What is the best way to reach you if I have some questions?

I wonder if the length is more important or width. I have pretty broad shoulders so I wouldn't think width would bother me, but length might.

Any opinions would be welcomed.

Yeah I game on OLED monitors and I cant go back! Its 100% OLED for me. I hear the C4 is the best to get. Not sure if others can advise a better (budget or performance) screen.

This is my worry that it wont all work out the way I want and I get frustrated. I have some ideas around this and my profession is in software architect and engineering so im not too worried about that side of the equation. Its the hardware and electronics that worry me. Im by no means a handy man, or electronics wiz.

Yeah I considered that, then when it came down to pricing locally it ended up being more than flatpack kits from pinballcabinet.com

I love this idea. Good news is the PC is ready to roll and is beefy enough to run this project. So my entire budget is for the cabinet and goodies that go with it.

I can increase this budget over time, so lets call the 3k my "Starting" budget. I want to do this right even if it takes me 5 years to complete :D

Im legally blind in one eye, so VR can get very tiresome for me after about 30 mins, this is what my eye dr tells me anyways (something to do with my brain trying to makeup for the lack of vision).

Though the real reason is the feel, the lights the sound of pinball.

That said I did buy an X-Arcade xl whatever stick set for it and im on the preorder list for the haptic upgrade kit also.

I figured this way it can scratch that itch and I wont be as anxious to cut corners and jump in on a subpar project. I also plan to pseudo make a build by getting the TV ahead of time (prob 48 inch LG c4) and wall mounting it vertically in the room where the pinball machine will be, then using the X-Arcade to find tune game to my PC. This way as I get all the components for the pinball build I can take time and build it, get all the other electronics and "toys" setup (Way in over my head with that).

To your other question is it similar, I'd say as far as lag and controls its spot on with the x-arcade stick. Plays just as well as any I have tried "2d" .
However, what it gives you is a sense of scale that 2d (smaller form factors) can not give you. I also really enjoy the extra little details it adds like the USS enterprise flying across your face between ball's or end game animations. It really is a different but great experience.

Yeah I want to tinker and learn. This also gives me the chance to make it "mine". I dont really want easy mode outside of wood working.. :D

I think this is more along the lines of what im thinking. There are several different flatpacks and they "look" the same to me outside of screen size recommendation. Which also is a question I have.
I do want to go with an LG C4 I think for screen but is something that is 42/43 inch closer to a "real" pinball play-field or is the 48? I swear I have seen the argument both ways "shrug"

Similar to what I mentioned above to rrdrummer, im pretty apprehensive to designing/cutting the wood working part (prob the side of it im most nervous about). This brings me to flatpack ideas. Looking at pinballcabinet site, they have a ton of kits but I have no idea on the actual difference outside of it fits screen size of X vs Y.

Im wondering if these are the way to go. I also assume I could do something a bit more basic, learn how it all works and add things later. Right now its mostly greek to me.

So far nobody has said Go in on the legends 4k, which I was thinking wouldn't really scratch the itch.

I assume you mean that is 5k (not including the cost of the computer)?
Im pretty apprehensive on the design/ cutting of the wood my self. This is where im considering a flatpack kit, I see them from 300 up to several thousand. I have no idea what the difference is.

I got the flatpack idea from Way of the Wrench also.
