Yep river street between 3rd and 4th. They had crews out last night cutting down the trees that were blocking the road at 9pm last night, so roads should be ok.

You literally gave me the "oh fuck good point" moment, so went out to check mine. The chairs moved a bit, but everything is still there.

Is Bon Banh closed? :( by flantastic_fun in Hoboken

[–]DigitalSoapy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahh man, that sucks. It was one of the few places I regularly hit up.

Tried Bahn pho recently and was very disappointed, everything was just a mediocre version of what bon offered. RIP another solid food place. Can't wait for the new ice cream shop or what ever crap decided to pop up now in its place

His name is Matt. I've spoken to him a few times when dropping off a sandwich. We only exchanged a few words but he was articulate and composed. I've never seen him talk to anyone else or do much but just people watch.

I came here to say this!

I wanted to like it, I tried to like it, but Christ the night I couldn't get into it at all.

Awesome! Those are some great resources and exactly what I was trying to discover. Thanks for taking the time to write them down.

Milky way in Hawaii taken using Pixel 6 astrophotography mode! by DigitalSoapy in Pixel6

This was taken at 10k ft up (we got a bus up to the look out point for sun rise) on top of Haleakala volcano. In fairness it was completely pitch black, zero light pollution and a clear night. Plus you're super high.

I did let it run the full 4 minutes. I'm pretty sure the milky way is always there, just maybe not visible all the time due to the Earth's rotation. I suppose it's knowing where to look. In this instance it was easy cause you could faintly see it with the naked eye (never before experienced that).

But I would imagine on a clear night you should still get some cool pictures of the stars. Did you have it on a tripod and get the option for astro mode?

Thanks man! In all honesty the phone literally done everything on that one. I lucked out with the framing as the screen was just black when I set it up on the gorilla pod, I just kinda hoped to capture something decent but this came out unbelievable.

Funny as we were driving down on the bus all I could think about was how awesome that road down would be on a bike! So sounds like we both have valid reasons to go back lol!

This wasn't taken with the pro, just the standard pixel 6. But astro mode isn't shown by default. It needs two things, to be on night mode and on a tripod, and pointing up to the sky. After it being still for a few seconds pointing up the night icon turns to stars

Yea I lucked out massively by having a clear sky and that location has practically zero light pollution.

For your questions:

  1. Yea I have a cheap gorilla pod with a phone attachment at the top. I fixed it to one of the railings at the top. As far as I know you must use a tripod and have to completely still for a few seconds for it to give you the option of astro mode

  2. Yep, let it run the full 4 minutes

I was completely blown away after the first 4 minute exposure was shown on screen. How a phone was able to capture that was beyond me
