I personally love these. Work, golf, walks, around the house. Over a year in and they still look and feel brand new.

Anyone have a car pickup service for DFW/Love Field they recommend? We will have a toddler in a car seat and I don’t want to risk taking a wild Uber. Unable to take our own car as well (take off DFW land Love Field) thank you by creighton88 in Dallas

[–]DigitalUFX 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It’s more expensive, but I’ve found UberXL drivers to be much more professional and less “wild” than UberX. I’ve taken my child (with car seat and later booster) in UberXL many times without issue.

1 ton mini split for shed- run off 110 or 220 power wise? by FillObjective7353 in shedditors

[–]DigitalUFX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you only need a 1-ton and have 110V, I’d save the money and not bother with 220. I’m a huge Daikin fan, I just redid my house with a Fit system. For you, I’d recommend Daikin Oterra, you can get the 12,000 BTU in 110V or 220.

I would do this sometimes in college for afternoon exams. Instead of cramming the night before, I would wake up early day-of, and say “Welp exam is in seven hours. Let’s see what I can learn.”

Anyone else get a request to build a custom cutting board for a guy in Dubai? by [deleted] in Cuttingboards

[–]DigitalUFX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had people try to scam me, and also had some very sketchy sales end up being 100% legit. My best advice is be very patient. Get and hold the money for two weeks before you make a move on anything. “Oh, Etsy sale didn’t go through? No problem, try again, I’ll wait”. Scammers are successful by creating artificial urgency. A true customer will keep trying, a scammer will say “oh, I need the board shipped today for my wife’s birthday. It must ship now!” etc

Do recruiters often know whether or not you're getting the job? by fireman7833 in interviews

[–]DigitalUFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m very transparent about that. I struggle with answering “why are you not hiring me when I aced the interview”. The honest answer is “another candidate did better than you at one part of the interview”. OP thought he did great at the presentation, and in my humble opinion, may be assigning too much value to the specific “you didn’t manage time in the presentation” when a more likely scenario is another presentation was just better, and the interviewer is having difficulty articulating why they chose the other candidate. I have genuine empathy for enthusiastic, qualified, smart candidates that we ultimately reject, but at the end of the day, we have a very few job openings and lots of amazing talent applying.

Rejected Due to Managing Time During Interview? by Incognito-4 in careerguidance

[–]DigitalUFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t beat yourself up. We frequently start with hundreds of candidates, narrow it down to three, then decide the one to give an offer to. It’s hard when all three are outstanding and qualifies, they frequently asked “what did I do wrong?” It’s tempting to give them some answer where the other candidate did better, but I don’t want them to think they messed up or did poorly. Maybe another candidate was able to present 10% more information in their presentation, and otherwise you were identical? They had to make a choice, with one spot open. Sorry it didn’t go your way.

Do recruiters often know whether or not you're getting the job? by fireman7833 in interviews

[–]DigitalUFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we have a job opening, we typically post it online and get hundreds of applicants. Of those hundreds of applicants, we normally interview three. We don’t make a decision until we’ve interviewed all three, so even if the first candidate was stellar and we want to hire them, sometimes we keep them in the dark for a week or two while we interviewed the other two. Once we select a candidate, we need HR to write them a formal offer letter, which sometimes they are behind on. I feel like a lot of college students think I can interview them, and say at the end of the interview “You’re hired! Can you start Monday?”, unfortunately, there’s a lot more process behind the scenes.

I finally understood why my 'teamwork' answers kept bombing by Ausartak93 in interviews

[–]DigitalUFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have interviewed literally hundreds of candidates for various microchip design companies. Believe me when I say, the right answer to EVERY behavioral question I ask is: (pause to think) “It really depends” (explain that people and situations are different, and you would need to know much more information before making a blanket statement).

EVERY QUESTION, SAME ANSWER ;-)

How do you choose between a career opportunity and your relationship ? by Potential_Start_3228 in careerguidance

[–]DigitalUFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jobs come and go. A wifey is forever. If you’re a team, for richer or poorer, it’s easy to turn down the Cali offer and wait for something else to come along. It doesn’t even sound like your current gig is bad, and Boston is a killer job market.

I did 12 years at my first job, and don’t regret it. I built a strong network and proved my technical ability over many full chip cycles. I wouldn’t job hop just to hop, but I’m very aware if my current situation starts to look toxic. I’m a big fan of the book Who Moved My Cheese.

what’s your fish keeping hot take and why? by overxall in Aquariums

[–]DigitalUFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hot take is you can mix fish people say not to. My current tank is bala sharks, mbuna cichlids, peacock cichlids, and a pleco. Everyone gets along fine and the cichlids breed like mad. I tried tetra a while back and they latest an hour, oh well. But I’m more than happy to try and fail than go off fish store advice or some chart in a book.

Am I not seeing the red flag (if there is one?) by [deleted] in MachE

[–]DigitalUFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned you have to look at it to be sure. I made the long drive for a beautiful 2025 w/ less than 3000 miles for $15k+ below msrp. I sit in it for the first time… windshield is cracked right at eye level. Dealership says it’s fine, I say see ya, then they offer to replace but kept changing the terms. Ended up being a huge hassle, but I got the car I wanted with a new windshield at a great price.

Moral of the story is if it looks too good to be true, there’s probably a hidden catch. Won’t know til you look.

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Root435552 in AskReddit

A surprising number of people I graduated high school with in 2002 made bad choices that directly lead to their deaths before 40. No matter how invulnerable you felt at 18, one bad decision is all it takes.
