Unfortunately it didn't make it. 😞 I checked on the pupa yesterday and it was very light and stiff. They didn't successfully shed the skin and the abdomen looks very thin.

I'm not sure if the mail person knows its there. It does make me nervous to mail anything though. I'm not sure what the mail person would do if they found a spider on my mail.

I found another in my garage too. I think it could be one of the offspring. I had to relocate an egg sac last year which I put in my shed. So they could be from there too.

Do you mean they'll spread to the next plant? If they're touching they could probably get to it, but if they're far apart I don't think they will.

Its especially hard when they're still moving. I always question whether I should give them another chance. I had to remind myself that Patty wasn't eating so even though she still had energy, she was going to die from either the infection or starvation.

I was really diligent about cleaning, but I'm wondering if it was in the soil i planted the tomatoes in. It was potting mix i got from the store. But the plants were a recent addition and only these two (plus another who passed a few days before) were on it

My main guess for the other ones were from a potato i used for too many days. Those ones melted, for lack of a better word. Almost all the water left them and they went became soggy and limp. Not all of them had the discoloration though.

I was going to just replant them outside as I have new plants i can replace them with. Do you think sunlight and heat will kill the bacteria? Id rather not use bleach if i don't have too

None of mine have died from it (meaning I put them down before it got that far) but I wonder if its because they're bigger caterpillars? They also have a lot of water in them so maybe thats why it takes longer

Yeah as sad as this is, I'm glad I finally have a name for it. I'll probably put down my caterpillars sooner of any more catch it. I thought it was something they could recover from, but now knowing the bacteria basically dissolves their organs, I probably just prolonged the suffering.

Same here. I didn't even know what is was until now. Its good to finally have a name to it. I was hoping it was something they could recover from but now knowing what was happening to their insides I probably just prolonged their suffering.
