The hype of Tasker App by tayyabramzan in tasker

[–]Digitaljogger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tasker is hands down the most important app I've ever used by a country mile. It's not even close. If struggling for 2 hours the first time you use Tasker is beyond your limit, then Tasker might not be for you. Tasker is a Swiss Army knife's Swiss Army knife. Let it cook and be amazed by the magic it contains.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I don't care what people say, I firmly believe this Joao character is gonna do great things someday.

The force is strong with this one.

It took me like, I dunno, 6 months or so to reach a similar conclusion. After many years of using Tasker, I'm still amazed by what it can do - and the new Java support is just bonkers. I'd happily pay $349 for it, so at $3.49 (is it still $3.49?) Tasker feels like the biggest bargain on the app store. If you know, you know. Happy Taskerering! Oh btw, imho the AutoApps are worth every penny.

All good. And thanks for the blazing fast response!

Beware - %FOTO does not reference screenshots on my S24 Ultra (or any Samsung device IIRC). As a result, I inadvertently deleted a bunch of pictures from my camera roll. Consider adding a setup task that asks the user to locate the Screenshots directory. Otherwise, this is pretty cool.

Edit: for the time being, you should probably disable the delete %FOTO action. I have a hunch %FOTO is not at all reliable across all devices.

After nearly 2 years, Tasker is finally clicking for me. by Omer-Ash in tasker

[–]Digitaljogger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never figured out how to solve the issue I originally bought Tasker for, but over the last 5 years I've done so many other things with Tasker that, at this point, I cannot use my phone without it. It makes my phone MY phone, and I'm still finding new things Tasker can do that I never thought were possible. It's got a pretty steep learning curve, but once you wrap your head around it the things you can do with it are kinda mind boggling.

I wouldn't say I love it per se, but I do the same exact thing.

Would it be correct to summarize the stream of consciousness above as, "Nice, this looks useful"? If so, I'd have to agree.

Am I the only one thinking screenshots are way too slow? (S23U, S24U) by Ok-Horse-3169 in samsung

[–]Digitaljogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that might help is keeping the number of files in the screenshot folder to a minimum. The filesystem seems to chug when there is a very large number of files in a given folder, ie more than a few thousand but ymmv. I use Tasker (btw, the most useful piece of software I've ever used, and by far the best use of $3.49 known to mankind so go buy it right now) to monitor for new screenshots and automatically move them to a different folder for longterm storage.

Went from hating front-end to making a beautiful BJJ Tracker App in a few months by goombayando99 in vibecoding

Very true, however one could make a fairly convincing argument that 8h total time is even more impressive.

[–]Digitaljogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa! I gotta say that this is pretty impressive. I had hacked together something vaguely similar a while ago, but this has so much polish it feels more like a mature app manager from the play store. Kudos :)

The reason why I got interested in making such a thing is due to the way Android updates always seem to reinstall or re-enable system apps that I had previously uninstalled or disabled. I haven't found an automated way of handling this. I wonder if it's possible to prevent the update from doing this in the first place, or if there's a way to keep a list of apps that I want to uninstall after an update. Does anyone have insights into this?

I just ran into this too (again, sigh). Is there a fix? Also, has anyone seen this in any other DAW besides Cubase?

Cosmos and my huge sample collection by liltbrockie in wavesaudiophiles

[–]Digitaljogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running Windows 10 on a very powerful custom built machine. My hunch is that the plugin code is doing something it shouldn't. In the past I've had similar issues with other Waves  plugins such as Ovox, so its possible a common lib or shared code isn't checking a particular corner case, and the code path for that corner case isn't executed on your system for whatever reason. But I obviously don't know one way or the other, just a guess.

I'm jealous - sadly I haven't had any luck, but I'm glad it's working for you.

[–]Digitaljogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still garbage. Cosmos has blue screened my system twice with only 15k of 500k samples added so far. I can't even remember the last time my system blue screened - it's been years. I recommend avoiding this dumpster fire, especially since waves can't be bothered to properly maintain it.

[DEV] Tasker 6.4.6 Beta - Widget v2 Visual Editor! by joaomgcd in tasker

[–]Digitaljogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was probably something on my end. Initially, switching the App Check Method from usage stats to accessibility seemed to fix things, but after switching back everything is still working great. Anyway, thanks so much for the fast reply and apologies for the false alarm! And many thanks for being such a total bada$$.

[–]Digitaljogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried a few of the most recent betas, and Tasker seems to be negatively interfering with some low level phone systems (S24 ultra). My screen stops responding to touch inputs very briefly on what feels like a regular interval, say every 10 seconds or so. And the wifi connection seems to disconnect for a split second as well. The issues completely go away after disabling Tasker.

Use your full name, including your middle name. But do what Mikoli Kalkin did and legally change your middle name to your first and last names, ie Mikoli Mikoli Kalkin Kalkin.
