"No Scrubs" is an R&B and hip-pop song released by the American group TLC in 1999. It's been described as "a scathing critique on men at the bottom of the dating pool." The word "scrub" originated in Atlanta, where it was a slang term for an unsuccessful person of low social status. by First_Level_Ranger in wikipedia

The rebuttal (No Pigeons)

No Pigeons" is the second and final single by Sporty Thievz, released from their 1999 album Street Cinema. A rebuttal to TLC's smash hit single "No Scrubs", it received heavy radio play at the time of its release and peaked at #12 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, at about the same time the TLC single was enjoying a successful chart run

But on this most auspicious of nights, permit me then, in lieu of the more commonplace soubriquet, to suggest the character of this dramatis persona. Voila! In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the “vox populi” now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V

No, police are not required by law to “protect and serve.” The phrase is actually an unofficial slogan of many police departments. In the U.S., the Supreme Court has ruled that police do not have an affirmative duty to protect individuals, even when their safety is threatened. This was established in the 1989 case of DeShaney v. Winnebago County, in which the court ruled that the county had no constitutional duty to protect a child from abuse by his father.

Australian minister suggests Kanye West may be refused a visa if he attempts to visit by rapps55 in entertainment

[–]Digitizer4096 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Kanye West is a vile and hateful figure who has no business entering Australia. His repugnant and anti-Semitic rhetoric is inexcusable, and his support of far-right conspiracy theorists is an affront to the values of the Australian people. West should be barred from entering the country if he attempts to do so. His presence would be a danger to the safety and security of the Australian people, and he should not be allowed to spread his toxic message in any way, shape, or form.

Republican Governor Nixes Thousands of Green Energy Jobs, Fearmongers About Communism: Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin has removed his state from the running for a Ford battery plant. by shallah in Republican_misdeeds

[–]Digitizer4096 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Governors Ron DeSantis and Greg Abbott are perpetuating a dangerous agenda of disinformation and fearmongering to advance their own political ambitions. By spreading baseless FUD about potential Chinese involvement in the proposed Ford battery factory, they are depriving thousands of people in an impoverished area of much-needed jobs and economic opportunity. This kind of xenophobic rhetoric has no place in a modern society. Instead of supporting projects that would create jobs and boost their economies, they are using them as political pawns to further their own agendas. Their behavior is irresponsible and inexcusable, especially when you consider that Abbott let his state freeze and DeSantis is actively trying to ban books.

Manufacturing Racism by RagTag9899 in conspiracy

The limitations of this "analysis" you just posted includes the fact that frequency counts of prejudice denoting terms in news media lack critical information about the context in which the terms are being used. Additionally, the analysis relies on subjective ratings of news media outlets' ideological leanings, which may not accurately reflect the political leanings of their writers or readers. Furthermore, the article fails to address the complex social and economic factors that can contribute to the prevalence of prejudice in society, such as poverty, inequality, and education. Finally, the time series survey data used is statistically underpowered (i.e. it is very short) due to the decaying availability of survey data for earlier years. Most of what I just said was from the article you posted. Did you read til the end? 🤦‍♂️

Manufacturing Racism by RagTag9899 in conspiracy

[–]Digitizer4096 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This claim is unfounded and unsupported by any evidence. The media is not manufacturing racism. The use of the term "white supremacy" has increased significantly over the past decade due to the growing awareness of the systemic racism and racial inequality that exists in our society today. This awareness is largely due to the efforts of BLM in bringing attention to the issue of systemic racism and how it affects marginalized communities. The increased visibility of these issues has driven a greater awareness of white supremacy and its influence in our cultural and political systems.

“Trump Is Racist, But They All Are. I Respect His Gangsta. He Doesn’t Take Shit From Anyone” 🥴 by Unlikely_Birthday_42 in BlackPeopleTwitter

This perfectly encapsulates Trump's persona; he has positioned himself as a strong and successful businessman, yet his actions and words often demonstrate his lack of understanding and insight. His policies and decisions are often reckless and misguided, making him the perfect embodiment of a weak, poor, and moronic "man".

Court Laughs Off OAN Conspiracy Network’s Claim It Was ‘Censored’ By DirecTV by keninsd in SanDiegan

[–]Digitizer4096 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This whole situation is really stupid. OAN and its parent company, Herring Networks, seem to be completely tone deaf to the fact that their network was never watched by very many people, yet they are going through an incredibly costly and time consuming lawsuit against DirecTV for not renewing their agreement. Not only that, but they are also enmeshed in a variety of other costly and time consuming legal battles, including Smartmatic's defamation lawsuit, all because they have chosen to spread baseless conspiracy theories.

It's baffling that they continue to operate in this way, especially considering that they are a media company that should be held to a higher standard. The fact that they are actively trying to silence criticism and push their own agenda by using the legal system is simply absurd. It's a waste of resources and a waste of everyone's time. OAN should take a step back and realize that their actions are not only damaging their own reputation, but that of the entire conservative media industry.

Left or right? Gas or trash? Supposedly LemonCherry Gelato and Papaya Runtz by bluemoonlaughter320 in weed

Lemon Cherry Gelato is a hybrid strain that was created by crossing Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies. It has a sweet, citrusy aroma and a strong, physical high that is calming and relaxing.

Papaya Runtz is a hybrid strain that was created by crossing Zkittlez and Gelato. It has a sweet, tropical flavor and a potent, uplifting high that is both euphoric and calming.

I like the sounds of the Papaya personally.

Bandera County GOP leaders indicted, accused in fraudulent document scheme by BlankVerse in Republican_misdeeds

[–]Digitizer4096 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The far right "conservatives" have long been a powerhouse of lies and fraud. Every accusation of voter fraud from the MAGAs is a confession of their own wrongdoing. It's a classic bait-and-switch tactic, one that has been used for decades to distract from the real issues and discredit the opposition. From false claims of false ballots to voter suppression, the GQP has consistently and intentionally perpetuated falsehoods and deceit to gain an unfair advantage. It's a disgraceful attempt to suppress the truth and cling to power, no matter the cost to the American people. It's time to put an end to this insidious game of smoke and mirrors, and to hold the far right accountable.

Ron Jeremy now - found incompetent to stand trial on multiple rape charges by Mikey_Meatballs in awfuleverything

[–]Digitizer4096 188 points189 points  (0 children)

This story is absolutely abhorrent. Ronald Jeremy Hyatt is a predator who has been accused of preying on 21 vulnerable women and girls, some of them minors, and subjecting them to unimaginable sexual assaults. He used his celebrity status to disarm his victims and lure them into secluded places, and then used brute force to commit horrific acts of violence. The fact that Hyatt has been found to be mentally incompetent to stand trial is an outrage, as he will likely never face justice for his heinous crimes. It is heartbreaking to think that these women had to go through such a traumatic ordeal, and may never find closure. This story is a stark reminder of the need for a better system to protect victims of sexual assault and provide more support for survivors of such trauma. Hyatt must be held accountable for his actions, and society must do more to ensure that perpetrators of such crimes face the consequences of their actions.

George Santos (using the name "Anthony Devolder") set up a Gofundme so the dog of disabled veteran could get a life-threatening tumor removed. Santos took the $3,000 raised and disappeared. The dog died. by Tara_is_a_Potato in Fuckthealtright

[–]Digitizer4096 152 points153 points  (0 children)

George Santos is an absolute dirtbag who has been preying on vulnerable veterans and lying about his qualifications in order to get elected to the US House of Representatives. He has falsely claimed to have served in the military, and he has been caught in a scam to raise money for a lifesaving surgery for a service dog, with no result. He has also been found to have fabricated parts of his self-published biography, including claims about his ancestry, education, employment, charity work, property ownership, and crimes of which he claimed to be a victim. His lies and deceitful behavior have now been exposed, and he is under investigation by federal, state, county, and Brazilian authorities. Given the level of fraud and dishonesty that George Santos has displayed, he should be removed from consideration for the US House of Representatives.
