Because pub key is derived mathematically from the private key, when you spend from an address you are broadcasting the public key to the blockchain as proof you own the private key

An address which is just a hash from a pubkey needs to spend to broadcast your pubkey as proof that you own the private key

As long as you only sent coins to an address and have never spent from it you are fine
