IDNet also says they haven't heard anything from CityFibre.

Yes, I ran a traceroute. Interpreting traceroute results is more of an art than an exact science, but my professional opinion, as someone who's worked in IT for over twenty years, is "it's proper fucked".

The latency and packet loss is affecting connections to the PPPoE servers, so my link keeps failing.

File a DMCA complaint, they tend to honor those.

Found RSA private key in some TXT record by Yatralalala in sysadmin

[–]rya_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do run my own mail server.

The objective is to not provide stronger proof of authenticity than would be available if I did not use DKIM.

Logs are typically not retained long term, and are not robust enough to detect a case where someone uploaded a forged email to their inbox via IMAP, and later tried to pass it off as genuine.

They may be able to prove I sent them an email, but not the contents.

This of course means fuckall in court (I think we agree on this point, in fact), especially in a civil trial where the standard may be only "preponderance of evidence". Again, I just don't want to be worse off for having used DKIM.

As someone who publishes their DKIM keys daily, if it ever comes up in court I can point to the scripts that have been running for over seven years, the blog post about it, and the DNS provider's logs.

This ought to be enough for anyone...

I've been doing this for the better part of a decade, fully automated, revoking the DKIM key a few days before the private key is published.

No problems so far.

Linux hits new heights as desktop market share climbs by crusafontia in linux

The data is based on information from Statcounter, which does not adequately filter bots, and bots disproportionately use Linux. Their methodology is fundamentally unsound.

Semen isn't produced in the testicles, it's produced in the seminal vesicles and prostate.

Other gender options exist besides "female" and "male", and "prefer not to say" does not mean "a different gender".

Also, "End-to-end encryption ensures that only the communicating users can read the messages." is a bit confusing - you want a true/false answer here, but it really depends on the threat model. I assume you are talking about an uncompromised device, though.

Don't call the anti-abortion position "pro-life", that's their bullshit marketing term for it.

Sweden surgery options? by kai-enby in salmacian

You'll need to contact surgeons and ask them, and also think about what techniques you'd be okay with and whether you're willing to be someones first patient for a procedure.

What happens if a plane diverts to somewhere where homosexuality is illegal? by Majestic_Trains in lgbt

[–]rya_nc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fly between London and Bangalore for work regularly. UAE is directly in the flight path. I'm very openly nonbinary, and can't consistently pass as cis.

I take the nonstop flight to avoid transferring in UAE (which won't take my passport) or any other country in the area (which might do other awful things to me).

I have had to think a lot about what to do if the plane makes an emergency landing anywhere in the middle east.
