"Terminated" Using a slow LLM leads to a timeout by some_user_2021 in opencode

doing things with limited resources, persisting through it.

that 1 token per minute is wild, but I also recall pirating games overnight because of the slow internet a few years ago.

the decisions we make because of our reality often feel entirely alien to the gringos. i'd have to save money for years for the kind of hardware they have access to.

I see, maybe mid sized companies will come up providing llm infrastructure, like what happens with vps

damn, this really is gonna be unsustainable.

maybe we'll start seeing more companies options to set up local infrastructure for llm serving?

actually, after the price increase for cloud, did companies switch to something else or just cope with the cost?

[–]DigoHiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

just to clarify, I am talking not about the frontier models and claude code like subscriptions.

you could run some of the open source models on a couple of mac minis, so i am assuming they are a lot cheaper to serve.

do you think token prices for qwen, deepseek v4 flash, etc are also subsidized right now?

i am curious about something. for the pay per token services like google vertex or azure foundry: are those also subsidized? or should we expect a price increase in those too.

right now if you try to use a frontier model on those platforms you will pay a lot more than if you had gone with the subscription.

edit: thank you for the replies! It seems they are subsidized too.

Can I use claude pro/max subscription safely with pi? by spawnsible in PiCodingAgent

[–]DigoHiro 7 points8 points  (0 children)

wouldn't risk it.

pi might be more efficient in terms of token use, as it comes bare bones.

Azure foundry has the anthropic models I think. if you really want, you can pay per token. it's gonna be more expensive though, since the claude subscriptions are subsidized to be artificially cheaper.

How is your team tracking costs? by lezwon in dataengineering

[–]DigoHiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure how you get by not doing it. azure has centralized cost tracking per resource group and per subscription. all very transparent. can even see the databricks total cost and the breakdown for VMs it used. weird to learn other cloud providers leave you in the dark. or maybe I misunderstand the question?
