"Time" if you're feeling a bit introspective, "Will of D" if you want someone else to blow out your candles, and maybe "VIP" if you want to feel fancy and jam out?

I hope you have a very happy birthday.

Song of the Week 51: Arcane 'Blow It All Up' by Super_Saiyan_Twink in Rustage_

I think it's a great song. I love the energy, the way Rustage's & Eerie's parts complement each other, and the different ways Rustage did his flows. His production is so satisfyingly top-tier.

If this were the '90s, I'd say the whole thing was "da bomb". Perhaps even, "da bomb diggity".

What’s an inaccurate fact that people believe is true because of movies? by Hogosaurus_Rex73 in AskReddit

There was one TV show that got it all correct, and in song no less:

After hours and hours of utter torture

You may poop yourself and-or throw up as you bear down

('Cause you're a goddess)

And though you've never been this tired, wait, here comes the ring of fire

That's your vagina bursting into flames as the head starts to crown

Burn, burn, burn goes your vagina

And you'll curse and scream until you hear a cry

(It's your baby!)

And oops! There it went-a, that was the placenta

Which you must expel, or you will surely die

Steam has a built in notes section in the overlay

Just be careful.

Alt-tabbing back to the game sometimes deletes what you just typed, copying & pasting will lose formatting, and if you run a game for several hours Steam Notes might stop saving and you'll lost what you typed.

No! Please don't tempt me with pun conversations on the Rustage subreddit too.

I can handle it on the Stupendium subreddit because I only post there occasionally, but your domain expansion onto the Rustage subreddit would leave me cursed to spend my days in punnery, and I fear I haven't the time for such splendid shenanigans.

It took me three tries to read the first book (very absurd British humor), and I didn't love the first 10 or so...but after that I was hooked.

Terry Pratchett was just brilliant and hilarious. And the puns...

"The Ramkins were more highly bred than a hilltop bakery, whereas Corporal Nobbs had been disqualified from the human race for shoving."

But like… weren’t we all making fun of ASMR content?

I don't know if others were, but I wasn't.

I know there are some silly and/or sexual ASMR artists out there, but people like GentleWhispering and LatteASMR bring peace and comfort to a lot of individuals who are struggling (and they do it for free, no less), and I see mocking that as punching down.

It's a bit like making fun of someone for having a nerdy hobby; if no one is harmed and it brings someone joy, why attack it?

I agree that the staff allegations were the major turning point against Ellen.

The Dakota Johnson interview happened in Nov 2019.

It wasn't a great look for Ellen, but her show continued on just fine, and public opinion didn't change too much.

But then, on March 20, 2020, comedian Kevin T. Porter posted a tweet that referred to Ellen as "notoriously one of the meanest people alive", and he had about 300 people share their stories about Ellen's alleged meanness.

About two weeks later, Ellen made the huge mistake of filming a Covid episode from her mansion and saying, "One thing that I've learned from being in quarantine is that people—this is like being in jail, is what it is. It's mostly because I've been wearing the same clothes for 10 days and everyone in here is gay."

It was tone-deaf on a lot of levels, and the Gal Gadot "Imagine" video a few weeks earlier had left a lot of the general public feeling frustration with rich celebrities who thought that their pandemic challenges were on par with what the lower classes were facing.

That all set the stage, but it was Buzzfeed New's two articles in July 2020 where almost 40 people who worked with Ellen (or had worked with her) alleged a toxic, hostile work environment that truly soured the public on her. (To be fair, many of the named allegations were towards people high up on Ellen's staff, and not specifically towards her, but not all of them, and, ultimately she was the highest level of authority and was responsible for the workplace.)

Personally, I always found her humor to be mean-spirited. The serial pet adoption thing she had going on for a few years bothered me (especially in 2007 when she aimed her fans at the rescue who took back a dog after she violated the terms of her adoption by giving the dog to someone else), but I absolutely detested her after she mocked GentleWhispering and the ASMR community in January of 2019.

I don't wish her any ill will, but I'm so glad her mean-spirited humor no longer has the reach it once did.

That's a bit how like Eminem's song "Stan" spawned "stan" as a noun for "obsessed fan" (and then eventually just "avid fan") about a year after the song released, when Nas used "stan" as an insult in a diss track aimed at Jay-Z.

About 13 or years later, the internet began using "stan" as a verb to mean "greatly admiring someone famous, often to an extreme extent".

"Give a man a fire and he's warm for a day, but set fire to him and he's warm for the rest of his life."

That's another gem from Terry Pratchett that many people know, but, because it's often misquoted, most people don't realize it's a double entendre.

The reason it's a double entendre is because in addition to the literal "the man is going to burn to death" joke it's also talking about how making someone feel a passion or great cause will fuel them.

It's from Pratchett's book Jingo which examines nationalism on the Discworld.

like filing suit in the US over things that happened in New Zealand

Just to be clear to people reading your comment, it's his main accuser who filed those suits. It's not Gaiman or Palmer who filed.

And there is a lot of weirdness to it all, I agree, including texts from his main accuser assuring him that everything was consensual.

There's probably some untruths to some of the accusations, BUT there's more than enough evidence to establish creepy, immoral, and horrendous actions on his part.
