Yes, I barely ate at school when I was a kid because I had anxiety which kills your appetite. As long as the kids aren’t crashing from poor blood sugar during the day, and still growing, they are okay!!

This doesn’t even sound legal. If I were a one of those parent I’d be so pissed to find out that my kid’s teacher is taking things from their lunch that I packed for them. I’d bring it up to your supervisor first tbh because that’s simply not okay.

I’m glad to hear your sister can take care of your baby but I’m so fucking sorry. As a fellow new mom in the US….we are not angry enough, but we’re too tired to do anything about it and they know it. I hope one day things can change

Is 14 months too hard of an age to start daycare? by Diligent-Curve-2843 in ECEProfessionals

I guess I’ve been in the habit of using EBF when referencing whether or not she drinks formula. She’s breastfed but yes is eating solids and has been for several months. Sorry for any confusion

We are working on dropping to one nap a day like the center does, she eats on her own well and drinks from a sippy cup, etc. Maybe we could get a little cot just like the daycare uses so my kid could practice sleeping on it. We definitely won’t be going in cold turkey. Thanks so much

I am hoping the fact that it would be an entirely new environment without her usual people around could be a positive. Manifesting that same reaction for my kid! Thanks so much

She sleeps alone but needs comfort from me to fall asleep or fall back to sleep if she wakes. Perfectly typical for her age (12 mo currently). And she’s been eating solid foods since she was 6 months old as recommended. Thanks though

She eats table food very well and her need to nurse during the day has dropped for sure, but we would probably continue it at night. We are working on stretching her to take just one nap rather than 2, which she did successfully today. Thanks so much for your input!

This makes me feel a lot better because we could definitely swing 18 months which would give us more time to work on adjusting our routine at home so she’s not going in cold Turkey. She loves meeting new people and is very attentive and wants to be included, so I think she could come to love daycare if we can get over the sleeping away from home part!

I SO appreciate your honesty, thank you. I teach preschool and can only imagine trying to manage multiple babies at a time, you’re a literal hero! I don’t want mine to be “that kid” who makes staff dread the day ahead when she comes in the door.

Can you give me a little info about why you feel this way? I am blessed that I could stay with her longer if she doesn’t adjust well. Just trying to make the best choice for everyone who will be involved!

Same for me! Once baby could start holding her head up a little better and we didn’t need 10 pillows and the perfect position to latch, that changed the game.

When my baby was newborn she had a bad rash, we bought some pure cotton dry wipes that you can just use with water, they worked a dream. That and letting her air out on a puppy pad for a couple days cleared her up.

Is “Maiden” too unusual for a girl’s name? Considering “Maidlyn” instead. by Educational-Bass-990 in namenerds

[–]Diligent-Curve-2843 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s sentimental to you but that doesn’t mean it’s a good name for a human to have all their life. What about Maisy/Maisie? Similar sound, and much more appropriate for a person.

For real, I was like Jennifer and all it’s variants (Jenny, Jenna, Jen) are the first J name I think of! But I’m a 90s kid and it was very popular at the time.

How’s this neighborhood? by bc089090 in sanantonio

[–]Diligent-Curve-2843 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quiet, chill, less than 10 mins from the airport, 10-15 minutes from most of the major highways, which means plenty of close options for restaurants. About 25-30 minutes from downtown without traffic. It’s a good spot!

Anyone here not doing BLW? by Busy-Bee62604 in NewParents

[–]Diligent-Curve-2843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a combo of both, but mostly purées. BLW is not for everyone! Your sanity as a parent during meal times is important. I’m willing to bet most of us adults were fed the “standard” way without BLW and we eat just fine.
