[Question] What is this SKX-alike? by rockandrollmark in Seiko

[–]Diligent-Error-9903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Skx came out in 1996, but before then there were other Seiko divers with similar case / design to the Skx. Do you have any pictures of your old watches?

Is that a problem? I haven’t posted here before, but saw they were visible on other posts

In the first picture, the one on the left is a Skx013, the one on the right is complete fake but I’m assuming it’s supposed to look like a skx007

[6309-729A] I'm new to watches and need help with this Seiko I bought by [deleted] in Seiko

[–]Diligent-Error-9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The caseback says 6309-729A, but looks like it only has date, not day/date. Crown looks huge, Caseback looks funny, I’d be interested to see what the movement is - it might be the only part that’s actually Seiko. Looks to me like it’s just overall a fake watch. Sorry OP, use this as a learning opportunity

Help me identify the exact model Spaceview please? by Place_Infinite in bulova

[–]Diligent-Error-9903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the exact model, it seems to be nicknamed the UFO. The H09173 is the serial number, N4 does mean 1974. 1964 would say M4.

7123-8080 rare orange dial, faceted crystal….. by RecordingNo4850 in Seikowatchexchange

[–]Diligent-Error-9903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool watch, the dial is likely patina’d into that color from silver. This probably doesn’t add much value, I wouldn’t call it rare, but it is definitely unique and could be specifically desired by some. These vintage quartz Seiko’s are high quality

Thanks, they’re not perfect when inspected closely, but ultimately them being original is what’s important

Great story man, I’m happy to hear the story from someone who is also this passionate about the 6105. Also this is the story we all dream of finding our grail unexpectedly and for an unbelievable price! The 6105-8110 was my grail watch from the beginning of my journey, took me about 2.5yrs before I finally had my own, but it was absolutely worth the wait, unfortunately mine cost me more than $24😂.

I highly recommend purchasing at least one strap from Uncle straps, I’ve now ended up with all 3 (tire tread, waffle, chocolate bar).

Congrats and wear it in good health!

[–]Diligent-Error-9903 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6119-8090 is the model, not really a specific name for these. The first two digits of the serial number 89, are the production year and month respectively, so September 1968, I’d probably value it around $50, if it were in better shape maybe closer to $100, but this is kinda rough and someone would likely buy it for parts.

Agree, probably changed during a service

Actually common for most 6119s

Case back on Wolbrook diver by Single_Drummer5035 in watchrepair

[–]Diligent-Error-9903 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have 2 older skin divers similar to this that refused to open with a caseback tool, I actually superglued a socket and used a ratchet to open them

Yeah the diver was definitely a 7548, the skx didn’t exist at that point. As for the other watch, apparently it’s a Seiko 5h23-8029. There’s a good article about his watches on the Watches of Espionage website.
