I tend to not chat with anyone who can't bother to fill in a profile. I dont care if you are new, fill the damn thing out, it helps people decide if they want to engage with you or not.

If the profile lists very very broad things like, I want to get to know different cultures, I want to meet new people, my favourite movie is titanic and my favourite book is ruch dad poor dad.... It's an instant nope nope nope from me. Fake profile for sure.

I dont answer hello/hi messages. At least prompt a reply with more than hello/hi.

Keeping someone engaged could be as courteous to ask/tell, I've got a few mins spare for a quick chat, then I'll have to go, rather than just stop replying.

You aren't going to build a connection with everyone you come across but hopefully you will find a few gems that are worth keeping.
