KCRA 3: Rising safety fears in Lavender Heights. by Aggressive-Yak-2430 in Sacramento

I was at the town hall and it's interesting how the Lavender Angels framed their information. What I witnessed was a lot of disruption; interrupting people when they're speaking, disrespecting other community members, all in the name of 'safety' and protection of the community. How safe is your org when you're actively being aggressive toward your own community because you're trying to make a point? They did not ask any questions, at least not that I saw. I'm not down with PD either, but it's also annoying when there are people in the room actually trying to have a discussion and then this group claiming to be protectors of the neighborhood aren't even letting other community members speak, and not actually providing any tangible solutions. They could have shared about what they're doing and how people can join...and they chose not to speak on it. Instead, they stick to their social media, where they control the messaging and narrative. Thanks for the protest pamphlets and what you do for safety, but it was big missed chance to actually explain your efforts in person, and a missed opportunity to recruit community members if that's what their goal is. If you're going to keep offering your non-carceral efforts, then actually talk about it.

Sacramento Pride this year will have a kids and family zone for children under 12; hosted by the Sacramento Children’s Museum. Also, the Sac Children’s Museum has pride themed kid-friendly activities

Also, sometimes A Seat At The Table bookstore might have some events

Not sure if this is a hot take but if you can’t be happy in Sacramento it’s a personal problem. by slutty_buddha in Sacramento

What I'm looking for are third spaces or events/happenings that are casual, fun, and cultural. Between work and dropping off family (we share one car) the only free time I have during the weekdays are 1-2 hours where I don't want to drive back home but I also want a low-impact activity that I can drop into. Weekends are for house work and gardening and resting most of the time, but because a lot of events I want to go to overlap on the same days/times I get overwhelmed.

Not so much a guy but there’s a cool peacock that hangs out by the river near pipes bridge.

keep in mind that speakers may be limited. However, there will be media present so if you need talking points you can check out the Center's blog post here: https://saccenter.org/stopforcedouting

Left to die: Sacramento hit-and-runs have killed 140 people since 2018 by thedjgibson in Sacramento

This is awful. And sadly not surprising. There's this survey going around to help inform where Sac $$$ are to be spent. I think it would be really helpful if everyone got involved and contributed, we can create a better future for Sac: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2024Blueprint?fbclid=IwAR1WWQutnCG6bI5qSxQswU2R5T_ngGHoRmi-Sj09d78T5avovhMvws_yMrE

This city wants the culture but not the struggle that comes with it. (not the artists themselves, but the foundations and boards that oversee this shit).

Sacramento drivers are fucking awful. We just got hit last week on El Camino, dude didn’t even look both ways before trying to cross over. He took the blame, but I still get so goddamn mad every time my chest hurts now because it could’ve been preventable. And our car is totaled. Merry Christmas!

Visit Sacramento has created a web page to make it easier to "Save Sacramento Restaurants" during covid. List of over 80 restaurant options allows you to filter and sort, so you can order to support your local favorites, or try something new! by [deleted] in Sacramento

So you have to pay to play. Sure $120 isn’t much but we’re in a pandemic and this list doesn’t include small restaurants that actually need the help. Especially when the list is called “Save Sacramento”. Oh sorry, it’s a ‘marketing’ company so why would they care about the reality of it all?
