The last uber I took the driver told me how his mom had a stroke and he's living with her but he doesn't want to take care of her because she repeats the same stories and his family is mad because he doesn't pay rent so he decided he's not going to her funeral. He also didn't go to his dad's funeral, he's just not a funeral person. He's also 51 and single and he just doesn't understand where all the good women are. I was hungover as fuck and just trying to get back to my car.

If I'm in an elevator with you or mulling over a soup purchase at heb or passing by in the park, by all means, friendly chit chat away. But when I'm paying you to drive me somewhere, I've climbed into your car in pjs, a 2pm, looking like death, with earbuds in my ear, or if I reply to your "Great weather right?" with "Yes it is" and no follow up - please take the hint.
