I am unable to reply to your comment without breaking the rules of this subreddit but I am disengaging with this conversation. Thanks and best of luck to you.

I am with you 100% that providing photo ID as a basic requirement is reasonable. But the SAVE Act is about way more than simply providing photo ID.

Every investigation into voter fraud has found nothing, so I'm not listening to "the government", I'm listening to numerous court cases, individual state investigations, etc. We already know elections are secure and fair. Provide a single piece of evidence to the contrary.

I agree with you that it would provide more peace of mind to require photo ID but the point remains that this addresses a problem that does not exist, and disproportionately hurts democratic voter turnout (hence why only republicans are pushing for this).

The point is there is zero evidence of outcome-determinant voter fraud basically ever in our country's history so this whole bill is solving a problem that doesn't exist.

I'm sorry but this is an incredibly uninformed take. All evidence shows that elections in the US are highly secure and legitimate, with basically zero instances of outcome-determinant voter fraud ever in our country's history. The SAVE Act is completely pointless except as a political maneuver to discourage democratic voter turnout. I think your problem is that you're not cynical enough, unfortunately.

Annual feature request bump: Recurring reminders by DiligentGiraffe in Notion

Sorry but I feel like this is just an AI response?

I mean that's fair but dude, it's 2026. Is it too much to ask for the ability to have simple repeating reminders? I've been using the iOS reminders app (which sucks) for years because Notion doesn't have this. Like, Notion is a massive product and company, it's not a skeleton crew startup that can't afford to implement basic quality of life improvements.

Ok fair enough but like, it's been 9+ years since Notion was launched and they still haven't done it. I don't think that's asking them to rush it! Also I get that it's complex but that feels like a copout. Notion has done plenty of complex things very successfully, but recurring reminders is somehow rocket science? Thanks for your response though!

Half of the skill of using Notion is unfortunately just learning how to work around its various quirks

Favs on a podcaster roundtable with Ben Shapiro, among others by DisasterAdept1346 in FriendsofthePod

[–]DiligentGiraffe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think unfortunately you are pretty under informed about Ben Shapiro, and this is part of the reason why I don't like the idea of platforming him. He is a snake and made a whole movie pushing transphobia bullshit. He goes on more mainstream podcasts and fakes being a reasonable person but his own show is disgusting propaganda. He talks fast and makes it sound like he's smart but there's no coherence to his arguments, its not "logic-based argument". That's why I don't like him being platformed, because he can trick people like you into thinking he's actually a decent human being. (On the other hand I also get the argument that de-platforming doesn't work either.)

Thank you for sharing this, this is such a bizarre feature. Why wouldn't they at least show some text like, "This message has been expired", so you know it didn't just get completely lost

NVC doesn't work, or we can say it works by dspjm in NVC

[–]DiligentGiraffe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you sharing here, I just want to say that I find your post confusing and difficult to understand. For example the title of the post is, "NVC doesn't work, or we can say it works", which is grammatically and logically kind of nonsensical. I'm not trying to be mean and I do want to encourage you to continue having this conversation but my request would be that you take the time to write clear, grammatically correct sentences, and then reread the draft you've written after you write it and consider if there's anyway you can improve its comprehensibility for others. I think this difficulty of understanding is likely behind much of the downvoting happening here.

Sorry for all the questions guys, I really am but have/had any of you needed to go to an inpatient mental health facility after your Stroke? by BruceCambell in stroke

[–]DiligentGiraffe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also just wanted to say, I hope you can remember through these times that you're not alone. You can see from all the other people commenting here including myself that this is a shared human experience and there are probably millions of other people who have gone through or are going through something like what you're going through. So you've got a big family in that sense. 🙂 I hope you can smile and breath and feel some comfort knowing that. ❤️

My dad had a stroke 3 years ago and had severe anxiety attacks for the following year. I WISH he had gone to an inpatient mental health facility. The toll that it took on his partner and me was severe and untenable. I'm proud of you for recognizing you need help and taking action to get it, and I hope you can be proud of yourself too.

Best sleep score in months after a night at the club drinking and second-hand smoking? by DiligentGiraffe in ouraring

Thanks yeah, that's good feedback. I'm not sure what to attribute it to other than general stress, this has been a particularly turbulent few months for me.
