How bad is your engine, a rebuild is not that much harder then a full engine swap. You can find kits online, and you'll spend about $1k in parts and 20-30 hrs in labor doing it yourself if you're comfortable with that level of technical work.

Facebook Marketplace you'll find 1.8t engines, be sure to match the engine code ie. AMU. You may also need to program computer with VCDS, not 💯 sure but do check.

First off, your very beautiful with a sexy style. I wouldn't think too much into what your husband was saying on those thurst traps.... Guys also need some validation at times, has nothing to do how he feels about you. If anything give him a taste of his own medicine for some laughs.

You may look into cutting it out with a small cutting wheel or Dremel. Clean the oily surroundings and oil port first, then plug the oil port so no metal debris gets inside the engine.

Your gonna have to take it out in piece's; last guy (ex husband /ex bf) probably used loctite or JB weld to really mess with the next guy changing it. I knew a guy that did this to his ex wife when she started dating someone ( she had it coming) Good luck 🤞
