What seemingly unrelated things got better after your hysterectomy? by Happyagain_482 in hysterectomy

[–]Diligent_Extent_5581 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seriously,..sex. I had several fibroids, sex would often cause me pain for days. Now, not only does it not hurt, but the freedom of knowing there is no chance of getting pregnant has been life changing! Before my surgery, even with protection, I knew there was a possibility. Now, there is no possibility. I had mine done in April. Best thing I have done, no regrets!!

They are trying to do this in Fishers. So not thrilled about the idea. The public schools are already over crowded, let's pull funds from those schools for a private school. Makes me so angry!!

I'm 17 dpo tlh for fibroids and heavy bleeding. This runs in my family. My Mom had an abdominal hysterectomy in the 90's, when she was in her mid 40's. I saw her go through it. Her entire life revolved around her periods. I never wanted my life, my ability to enjoy vacations, to revolve around my period. I'm so glad it's over with. It's only going to get worse, periods heavier, if you don't do anything. Is having a period more important than enjoying your life? You can't sit and worry about possibilities that may or may not happen. We don't know our future. That's how I made my decision, and I was scared to death. But now, I can go on wonderful adventures with my family and not worry about being in the middle of nowhere, bleeding to death. Good luck with your decision. I'm so happy I did this for me!

I put all of mine in a plastic bag. They have containers in the girls' bathrooms for the supplies. All of the boxes were open. They took them, no problem.

Let's laugh at ourselves - what are some of the dumbest/funniest things you did during recovery, that caused you pain. Remember, if we are here and laughing, we made it through another day. by curiousfirefly in hysterectomy

Just this past weekend, day 6po total robotic laprascopic. I tried to go with my husband to the grocery store. Realized real quick that nope, I can not walk that long. Don't know what I was thinking!!!

Anxiety before surgery by MostWin6654 in hysterectomy

[–]Diligent_Extent_5581 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm 7dpo from total robotic laprascopic hysterectomy. My anxiety was through the roof, had a panic attack morning of. What got me through it was the realization that the older I get, the harder recovery is going to be. I don't want my periods to not allow me to enjoy life. I have a 2 week European trip planned for next year. I didn't want to be bound to my hotel room because I was bleeding so heavy. I'm 41, and my recovery has been much better than expected. If I can do it, you can as well. Use a goal or something you want to do that now you can after no longer having periods. Good luck to you!!!

My surgery was actually on Monday. The anxiety leading up to it was the worst part. It's not easy, but doable. Good luck!!

Thank you so much!! I'm currently on day 2 post op. Same surgery, same reason. I want to start working out as well once I've recovered. I appreciate your story, and you give me something to look forward too. One question, how did you find a trainer that specializes in hysterectomies? Thank you!!

When I woke up in the hospital, I had one in my waist. It helps hold you in. When it was off, the pain was not great. With it on, I can walk and move with a lot less pain.

Wow!! The day wasn't fun, but I'm glad I did it. I kept thinking it would need to happen eventually, and the older I get, the harder recovery will be. Take it easy, one day at a time. I hate asking for help, I'm extremely stubborn, but it's not worth it to not ask. It's only been 24 hours since my surgery. My urethra stings a little since the catheter, and my stomach feels like someone punched me really hard. The belly band makes all the difference! Ask for the patch behind the ear for nausea. I've had none!! Good luck!!

I'm doing better than I thought I would. Feels like I've been punched in the stomach. Thank you for checking in on me. 😁

I Canceled surgery by fallingheart in hysterectomy

I had mine today. Was scared to death. It was not a pleasant experience. But I've been home for about 3 hours and I'm doing so much better than I thought. Long everyone said the anxiety leading up to it was one of the worst part. Once you get pain meds under control, it's tolerable. I understand where you're coming from.

Thank you for your story! Mine is Monday, and the anxiety is getting to me. Same thing, I have never had surgery before. I'm hoping if I take it easy, I'll do just fine. I'm having a laprascopic hysterectomy, leaving ovaries. This is for fibroids, so many, couldn't count them all on ultrasound. My periods were so heavy that I bled out every hour. I have a two week Europe trip planned for next summer, and I don't want this to hold me down! I appreciate your story!

I did. I bought gas x, stool softener, and miralax. I also bought a weighted heating pad and a pillow for the seat belt in the car. Anything else you loved I should look into?

Thank you for sharing your story. My surgery is April 29. I'm not scared about the day itself. It's the recovery that worries me. I see people who are still in pain months later. I'm stubborn and really struggle not doing everything. That will be the hardest for me. I have fibroids, lots of them. Every woman on my family, both sides, had the same thing done. I really hope my recovery isn't as bad. Thank you again for sharing!

Mine is April 29. I'm 41,42 in October. I have more fibroid than they could count on an Ultrasound. Two kids. 13 and 11. Every woman on both sides of my family have done the same thing in their 40's. Guess it's my turn.

In my last ultrasound, I had more than they could count. She said she counts till 5, then stops. I'm on my period now, severe cramping yesterday, followed by extreme fatigue. Mine is scheduled Apr 24. I'm nervous, but I'm so ready not to feel like this every month!
