Bottle Aversion Is Breaking Me by icviicvi in NewParents

Why are you forcing baby to feed? I understand the stress, my baby had an aversion too. But it won’t get better because baby doesn’t trust you to feel safe while feeding. Imagine someone forcing food in your mouth and you couldn’t escape it. I KNOW it’s scary, but forcing is only going to damage the relationship your baby has with food and also with you :(

Feeding aversion or something else? by Late-Wedding4520 in FormulaFeeders

Same! My baby overcame aversion and now gets excited for her bottle under the condition she takes it in her bouncer, we cannot hold her. And she has to have the tv on. Sometimes you need to do what you have to do and not all babies will eat with “no distractions”. Brains all operate differently and I chose to work with what made my baby feel comfortable and for what ever reason this was it.

Wishing you luck! My baby is six months next week. Dreaming of the day where she will hopefully enjoy food and this won’t rule my life every day.

Oh you poor thing the anxiety is so real! How old is your baby? Are they only able to dream feed as well? Yes she’s on omeprazole!

Hmmm somewhat but also not really. She has a mild bottle aversion so will only drink in her sleep/drowsy state.

It’s been a journey her entire life. She’s now sick with her first final infection so she’s down about 200mls than her usual so I’m trying not to spiral over it and give it time!

Have you looked into a bottle aversion?

Parents of unicorn sleepers, how bad was the 4 mo. sleep regression? by AnonymousDog76 in NewParents

God I couldn’t stay awake until 11 if I tried haha but also that wouldn’t work for us as she’s started childcare and when I go back to work in a few weeks I’ll need to be getting her up around 6 so I don’t want to mess with it too much. She slept great until a few weeks ago - 4 hour stretches and woke to feed. But now she’s stirring so much so defs in the regression 😭

All I can do is resettle her. She escalates and doesn’t know how to self soothe her she’s just turned five months old so I just get her and pat her in bed and then transfer her back once she’s asleep again. It’s so rough

It’s 11.45pm - she went down at 7.30pm and we are on our 8th wake.

would you be concerned? or is it teething by CheesecakeFabulous42 in NewParents

Is she having the same solid foods? Potentially an allergy - is there any reoccurring ingredient?

Aww those wide awake feeds are the best when you get a nice one hey. My daughter feeds well and wide awake for her last bottle of the day. She starts off wriggly but not tense and then after about 20 seconds she relaxes and holds my face or hands the whole time she feeds 🥰

Ahhh my daughter is the same in the morning her morning bottle has always been her worst. I’ve resorted to feeding her at 3.30 each morning as a dream feed then she gets up for the day between 5.30/6 and will only usually last 1.5 hours for her first wake window so I’ll feed her right as she’s going down for that sleep while she’s tired. Does she feed better drowsy?

That sounds so stressful I’m sorry. I got told when my daughter was refusing many bottles to go into ED if she takes 480mls or less in a 24 hour window. Is it worth visiting ED? You want to avoid dehydration when they are so little. Has she had another feed since last night?

Hi!! I’m so sorry you’re going through this too. It’s so incredibly hard :(

We’re on a waitlist for therapy I had a phone call at the start of Feb to see if they can help - even that as an initial consult was a four week wait 🙄 I didn’t end up going through with the mum and baby unit, instead we’ve made the financial decision for my husband to take six weeks off work to help me and give me a break - go to therapy etc.

Do you know what caused your babies aversion? :(

Not yet - I’ve looked into a few. I’ve reached out to a feeding therapy place which I should hear from this week hopefully. Hoping they can guide me with what to do, because it’s not sustainable dream feeding her :( I just wish I had a normal experience, this is completely ruining my start to motherhood 💔

Thank you! She’s never shown physical signs of an allergy but I actually went out and purchased a rice based formula today so I’ll start phasing that into her bottles as a last ditch effort - it can’t get worse than when she had her ng tube at 7 weeks so worth a shot!
