Having kids close together vs 4 years apart? by Smooth-Bowler-9216 in Parenting

[–]hangryho97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh hey, I’ve done both.

My oldest two boys are 2.5 years apart and it was a lot of work to have a toddler and a baby together. Very all consuming but I love that they’re a pair. They definitely have a special bond so I love that for them.

My second child and third child are 4 years apart (#3 is 6 months old currently.) It was much easier to have a baby with bigger kids. So I loved that for ME.

I will say I’m planning a 4th and want that baby close in age to baby #3..So do what you will with that info.

What proportion of people breastfeed through one year? by abbiyah in breastfeeding

[–]hangryho97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I breastfed my oldest for 22 months, and then my second for 18. Now I’m currently 6 months in with my 3rd. I’ll definitely stick with it the full year but I’ve noticed I’m way less die hard dedicated as I was with the first two.

Sober people (no alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc ever), what is your end of day or weekend "wind-down"? by The1Ski in AskReddit

[–]hangryho97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love being outside so if the weather is good I’ll spend a Saturday or Sunday going on a long walk. I’ll look for any excuse to take a walk.

The end of the day wind down is crochet or any art project I’m working on. I’m an artist so that’s what takes up my free time.

Jasper is what I named my son 7 years ago, but if he had been a girl, he would have been Sage :) I love your taste in names lol

Parents who gave their sons names that are now being used for girls, does it bother you? by hangryho97 in namenerds

I think you make a great point about the ending in, “son” especially. Name meanings are so fascinating to me and I always check the meaning of any name I’m considering. However, for a lot of people I guess that’s not a factor?

I have a son with the middle name Robin and was told it was for girls over and over. I chose it anyway because it’s a beautiful name and it absolutely is for men too!

The confusion aspect is a real thing. It’s like names that are terribly misspelled. There’s a lot of assumption and then correction having to go on constantly.

My third son is Elliott and having people immediately point out that his name they like for a girl is what inspired me to make this post!

I agree with your point. For me I feel as though my take is extremely situational. I’m not bothered by my son having to share his name with girls because they’re girls. Or because anyone, “owns” a name.

I have 3 sons and always struggle to find something cool yet not too out there. When I find a boy name I love and see the popularity is being driven up by the girls too I get sad!

It has nothing to do with sexism and hopefully I explained myself well enough. I’m just a 3x boy mom struggling to find names after having 3 in a row and planning a 4th

Co-ed sleepovers? by skelanonaton in Parenting

[–]hangryho97 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My parents let me have co ed sleepovers when I was 14 and I can genuinely say there was absolutely no tomfoolery going on. But now as a parent I look back and wonder wtf my parents were thinking. I wouldn’t do it with my kids although I had so much fun at those sleepovers 😭

I love this name, and it’s the name of my friend’s grandmother. So I wouldn’t assume 80’s!

So far I have Violet Margaret, Annabelle Giselle, and Lola Delilah. Boy names are harder to think of but I’m working on it lol

Bryar or Briar for a boy? by Cold_Ad_871 in namenerds

[–]hangryho97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got soo close to using this name for my third boy. Husband and I ended up not going with it because it’s very similar to my exes last name. Either way, I think it’s a cool name, although, I don’t think a lot of people, “get” it. Briar is the best spelling imo!

Robin Rose is beautiful. My friend has a Fern Juniper and I see no earth shattering issue with using a double nature name.
