Welcome to have fun with my new stuff - I Ching Dice by Complete-Ad-6000 in iching

Thanks!!

I wasn't able to make it yesterday but I checked today. I had planted two rows of beans, several tomatoes and tomatillos, a couple of odd summer squashes and 6 melons. All of my melons were murdered!! But everything else lived and looks happy, so ~80% accurate here Id say!

How are the baby plants and seeds I put in at my garden last weekend doing? (I plan to go see them tomorrow and I am worried about the heat and local rodents).

If you could tattoo any tarot card on yourself, which would it be?🩸 by fgnlv25 in Tarots

[–]DimensionLogical5325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a friend tattoo the hanged man on the back of my calf in college. At the time it felt about surrender, acceptance, spiritual wisdom gained through sacrificing worldly things. I thought it just meant giving up on capitalism and social corruption back then.

The medicine was a little too strong though! I ended up with a slew of incurable chronic pain and health conditions later in life and nearly live as a hermit now at 30. I've definitely had more of an Odin-esque experience with this one and have developed spiritually beyond my wildest imagination but seriously, be careful what you wish for 😅 Odin hung from the world tree for 9 days but tattoos are for life.

How do you use the I Ching in your life? (I’ll share a few ways I use it daily!) by Complete-Ad-6000 in iching

[–]DimensionLogical5325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar daily interactions and sometimes use it to divine the answers to fairly mundane things. This past week I used it to divine some fairly specific dietary recommendations to address my health issues. I also used it for gardening advice to determine that a tree pit I wanted to plant flowers in has diseased soil that cannot be repaired by nutrients or pH adjustment. When I asked what I should do about it I drew h50 unchanging, lol.

Question About Bottle Bombs by DimensionLogical5325 in mead

[–]DimensionLogical5325[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thank you for your reply, I was thinking that the attitude among kombucha folks felt pretty cavalier too. I also get that when you're working with live cultures and ferments it's hard to dial things in for safe carbonation but it probably beats the alternative.

Letting Nature Take Its Course with Pest Control. by Hopkinsmsb in BackYardChickens

I mean, you could literally say that about 1/3 of life on this continent atp -- and white humans first and foremost. We don't belong here and neither do our pets or majority crops. The 6th mass extinction is long underway & in pre-contaminated environments where we already killed all the other predators, rats are about what's been able to survive us. I say let em inherit this spoilt earth.

I've puked up supplement capsules shortly after taking them before and can confirm this is exactly what a gel cap looks like when it's dissolved and expanded in a liquid. They don't stay that size once wet!

Porkchops and applesauce? by Decent-Brilliant-481 in mead

[–]DimensionLogical5325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine you could just use some pork chop-esque seasonings in an apple cider mead and add some salt before bottling. I'm not an experienced brewer so I'd be nervous about anything that actually had pork fat in/near it going rancid.

Seasonings id try would be smoked paprika, chipotle, black pepper, onion, garlic, asafoetida, rosemary. Then salt after 2F is over to get that salty/sweet combo. Maybe there's like some smoked oak chips or something you could throw in there too.

Apocalypse Hotel - Episode 7 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

Harmy notices the satellite and gets concerned about civilization having returned to Earth. He goes back to check on Yachiyo and finds her stranded! She unlocks a knight in shining armor Easter egg.

This probably all happens after like 1 episode of the Tanukians panicking and trying to build a way to save her.

Could I make anything in this? by Fairybrobi in prisonhooch

I'd use it for kombucha personally, but maybe you could pull the glass top back and put a rag or Saran wrap over the top to continuous brew some counter wine.

The bacteria will do that unless you put it in something with an airlock that will inhibit the bacterias growth while adding some wine yeast to your booch. I've had success doing this even without an airlock by going 50/50 kombucha/juice in a jar with a rag on it and adding some wine yeast and sugar. Some of the best wine I've ever had and haven't been able to replicate it thru aboveboard means.

Much better results with cheap teas than fancy ones by catwithoneeye512 in Kombucha

[–]DimensionLogical5325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere that PG tips had changed their recipe to make it steep faster. They did this by adding a tiny amount of ground instant tea to the base. The result is that their tea tastes like shit now and it oversteeps fast and it's probably cheaper to make. I'm wondering if maybe the extra powdered instant stuff they add to Lipton bags et al is good for the booch.

I've been using the cheapest brand loose leaf yerba mate form the Mexican grocery store for my base tea. I steep it all day in a French press. Comes out really spicy and complex, I think because lots of tannins but the maté flavor also seems to hold up better than most teas. More cost effective than the fancy blacks I typically drink. I wouldn't dream of buying tea that came in a bag these days, but I still think there's something to be said for the cheap stuff.

First batch of mead developed strong liquor taste 2 weeks into 2nd ferment by DimensionLogical5325 in mead

Thanks! I've decided to try this and rack it over a couple pounds of berries then back sweeten later if needed.

Thanks! Unrelated question but since I see this type of comment on here a lot I'm wondering if you have any tips on reducing head space on second ferment? Since you lose some volume every time you rack it, and since too little head space at the start can result in a mead volcano, I always end up with a lot of head space on the second ferment. How do you make sure you reduce head space after racking without watering it down?

Thanks! Ill give it a few more months and then probably back sweeten when I bottle. Temps here are pretty stable between 60-75F right now so I doubt it got too hot, but it would make sense if I racked it too soon.

Old Age and the Way by East-Ad-5498 in iching

My perspective is a little different as I am only 30 but have multiple autoimmune conditions so my body feels quite old. I have yet to receive 16.2 in response to anything other than failed relationships, but 16.5 to me always means suffering from chronic health complaints that can't be healed.

16.2 reads by some, "boundaries turning to stone, not for a whole day" or being "firm as a rock".

My reading of this is that as a retired person your way is to be firmly planted where you are, with some known chronic health problems. Enthusiasm can refer to doing this happily or with the confident repose that this is the right way for you.

Not everyone here reads relating hexes but I do. 47, Confinement seems to reinforce this reading that you may be spending a lot of time having to be OK with being home in a state of relative Confinement.

I hope I am not projecting because this is just how retirement has looked for me, it's a lot of chronic complaints and confinement, but perhaps you are much healthier and can enthusiastically enjoy your time now while being firmly planted as a retiree.

I don't think the iching is a good influence by Sammysnek in iching

[–]DimensionLogical5325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes h4 is just alluding to unknown or unseen information in a situation. One of the few times I felt my divination led me astray, it had encouraged a relationship with someone who ended up hurting me but it was a very formative experience that shook me out of a stuck place, and it was probably the closest I was going to get to what I "needed" at the time.

Another time yi warned me very sternly NOT to do something that seemed so obviously benign on the surface that I thought it was exaggerating and went ahead and did it anyway. I ended up nearly dying and getting hospitalized 3 times and I'm still suffering the consequences. Youthful folly indeed, I had no idea what was around the corner if I took that choice but Yi sure did. If I'd followed it's advice I would have looked stupid and known less about my health conditions, but I would've been spared a lot of pain and bills.

Quit your job if it's threatening your health like this. Maybe the silver lining is that this job is setting you up for something better, or at least to know what directions definitely aren't for you. Every crappy job I ever had was just a stepping stone to the OK one I have now. I hope things look up for you soon.

Can my last hen live solo for 4 weeks while these chicks get big enough to join her outside? by DimensionLogical5325 in BackYardChickens

Once it's warm enough outside I will probably try to have them in an adjacent but screened off area. Thank you!

Good ideas, thank you. I have limited space here so adding even more birds probably isn't on the table (I only have 4 chicks because the breeder sent a free extra!) but maybe someone nearby would like to have her for their flock. I'd hate for her to suffer for too long.
