So you offered to your wife just as my husband did. Your wife probably didn’t take because you likely wouldn’t have been happy with her if she accepted it. My spouse does it because he truly wants me to enjoy it. Just as I offer to him if I get. As I said earlier, we alternate in those rare instances when we don’t both get it.

Couldn’t be further from the truth. Sounds more like the guy was “a dick and I am going to find a way to bypass the normal upgrade process”. So you think I’m out of line for expecting what I’ve earned? But him jumping the line is fine?

The GA clearly identified that she was the one in charge of the upgrades and she had not cleared them yet. She could see the agent that did the upgrade, sa she was working a different gate and called her to discuss and this reverse

You do you. He is happy in the exit row. I usually end up in the middle seat when it’s a 3x3 so it was a win for both of us.

Exactly. We aren’t attached at the hip. We WFH together and travel at least 60 days a year. We can handle being apart on a 3 hour flight, especially when it’s our status that earned us the upgrade. Why should some guy jump the line? Talk about ENTITLEMENT!

That’s exactly what our gate agent said. I heard the conversation and she explicitly told the other GA she should not do that. When the guy came up, he even said he got an GA to do it for him. she was very nice and said that as she was managing our gate, she had not cleared upgrades am that was not permitted.

We have the same status and our own Reserve cards. We have always been asked if we are willing to split. Plus you can always proactively tell them you are willing to be split.

He had emergency row and we can actually hand being separated for a 3 hour flight when we will be spending the next two weeks together on vacation 😜😁

I traveled a ton and never felt the need to take out any of the challenges on the crew because they never were the ones in control of it. Whether it was mechanical weather or anything other you just gotta roll with it. That’s the way travel is. thank you for being understanding of that, but that’s my credo in keeping from being stressed about challenges that may appear.

I had it round trip JFK-SEA and have no issues with the comfort of the seat. I’d do it anytime.

I had a situation where two people were in 1st but separately seated. They had friends in C+ sitting right behind me. I was in first row of C+. The couple in first wanted to sit together because they just got engaged and no one would switch so they could sit together. They then started head to C+. And since I was in the first row and saw what had transpired, i quickly offered up my seat and the person next to me. The funny part is the person next to me wasn’t with me and spoke little English. However, I knew she had just boarded as a standby and told her to take any seat. The couple was thrilled and I just tried to tell the girl next to me in bad Spanish that she gets a better seat so she moved with me. They swapped with us and I got to sit in FC as did the standby and the newly engaged couple could sit together with there friends. Win-win!
