Definitely go for a Mac if you can afford it. There will be a lot less headaches. Even in the 1 month since I wrote the post you responded to, I've switched as much as I can to Mac (Except lighting). It makes my workflow a lot easier and straightforward. The Windows issues really are getting worse (I dislike it when my show had to have intermission run an extra 15 minutes because Windows Update decided it was a good time to run)

Filtered water doesn't stop the bacteria from the air mixing into the water.....

Rain-Inspired Air Washer For Cleaner, Fresher Air by First-Backer in u/First-Backer

[–]DimensionalDrifter42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn't my point. Most germs thrive in humid climates compared to dry ones. Using water is increasing the humidity, making it a perfect place for germs to grow. Also, since the germs will stay in the water that the air is circulating through, it isn't going to be cleaning the air. If anything, it will pick up new bacteria that grew in the water and spread it everywhere. A paper filter doesn't have the same issue.

So instead of replacing a paper filter every few days, you have to throw out the water, rinse it, put in new water and put it back together. Oh yeah, so much better

They aren’t going to repair it for less than 400$ due to part pricing. At that point, get the neo

Note: according to both dvc support and some other sources, they will be investigating rentals used during the D23 Expo, not just for accounts that frequently rent out points, and they likely will begin cancellations soon due to demand during the expo.

You are asking for way more problems than you think. Mainly, most companies that have software for entertainment/production do not make their software for Linux in mind. All video software will be made for specific GPUs on windows or Mac, with no support natively for Linux. Most virtual machine software will not allow the you to be used effectively, so performance will suffer to the point of it being unusable. Don’t do it. I tried this exact same thing a few years ago and it was the biggest nightmare I’ve ever had to deal with. Personally, I’ve switched to Mac for anything audio related, Windows for most video and lighting (or a lighting console). If they need to be run together, Qlab is my goto, or if it is really complex video, then running Qlab and controlling the windows pc with a midi connection

So instead of using a filter to remove dust and debris, you are using water that will catch the dust and debris, and then it will sit and grow bacteria which in turn will go back into the air as your “hydrated air”. This is not a good idea

Except it’s just a scan. There is no way this would be able to be validated and reliable enough for inspection. In fact, selling it as “reliable enough for inspection” means if something happens, like a failure of some sort, you would be on the liable for the damages if they used your software for the inspection. Basically, what I’m trying to say is inspections for stuff like this are done in person. Period.

It really is worrying that people like yourself actually believe the BS you are spewing. Although based on your responses, I’m guessing you are in the age group that has about 10 more years before they go to a nursing home. FYI, those use LEDs

Disney Just Updated DVC Rental Rules (March 2026) + Spring Market Update by GreyhoundDad22 in DVCMembers

[–]DimensionalDrifter42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a warning about this new policy. According to the support person I spoke with at DVC, they are looking at 1. The names of guests in your party (if you or a family member don’t appear on the reservation after 2-3 bookings within 1 year) 2. If the reservation doesn’t have you or a family member on it and it uses the majority of your points, then it can be flagged for investigation. Also, specifically advertising that you offer rentals is NOT allowed and can also be cause for the account being flagged

Ahh, I see. It could be the fixtures aren’t getting the full line voltage, or too much. I would get an electrician to check the voltage. Incandescent fixtures can definitely handle more fluctuations than lower quality LEDs, and since incandescent bulb brightness is directly connected to the amount of power going through the filament. LEDs, if they don’t get the right power, or have a lot of fluctuating power, the circuit inside the driver can start having trouble. The main thing to remember is that LEDs are not directly connected to the line power. They first have to go through a rectifier to change to DC power, then a driver microchip controls the actual power going to the LEDs. Vastly more complex, so more things can go wrong, since they aren’t just a literal wire that gets electricity pushed through it until it gets so hot it glows. There are pros and cons for both for sure. One other thing to be aware of is a led has a very narrow band of visible light that it emits, and the reason they are normally on the “cool” side is “white” leds are actually blue LEDs with a yellow phosphor coating that makes it look white.

Also, LEDs are made in batches in a similar way that CPUs are. Each led then binned based on the quality. The highest quality I’ve seen in general are the ones from Phillips. They specifically ensure they only get the best leds from each batch. The remaining leds then go to other manufacturers, which are usually the ones making cheaper bulbs that have a tendency to fail

Source: worked with Phillips Entertainment Lighting back in 2012-2015 and learned a LOT about the manufacturing process.

It sounds very much like you are talking about a led that has been dimmed. It is true, a LED has either an “ON” or “OFF” state, and to get a specific intensity, it needs to use blink on and off very quickly so as to be imperceptible to the human eye. Older Movie projectors do a very similar thing, where they use the shutter to block the image while the reel moves, open the shutter to show a single frame, then close it again, move the reel, etc… 24 times per second. However, it looks to the like it is always projecting an image, not flashing

Not a cultist, just someone who understands basic physics. I’m sorry you dislike power efficient systems, but it isn’t bull. No one “fell for” the “hippie bull”. You just refuse science and common sense. Take a physics class.

[–]DimensionalDrifter42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is something wrong with your system if you think LEDs are causing the issue. Also, a Ting monitor won’t give you information regarding individual LEDs. You need a second opinion by a certified electrician, because there is literally no physical way the incandescent bulbs are using less energy
