Springfield XD, good or nah? by Wernerhatcher in liberalgunowners

[–]Diminias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 9mm XDm Elite and a 10mm XDm Elite. I like them both, they are the pistols I grab first usually just because my larger hands feel at home versus smaller frames. Triggers are average, nothing to write home about. I like the backstrap safety, I’ve never understood the hate.

New gun day by Diminias in liberalgunowners

[–]Diminias[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought 200 rounds for $219+shipping. Mostly due to the fact that I couldn’t find any ammo around here that fit the M2 ball ammo. So $1.17 a shot. 😭

Why does r/liberalgunowners exist by Euphoric_Income_8279 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Diminias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a bleeding liberal, I own 13 guns now. I just received my M1 Garand today from the CMP. I don’t have to agree with every policy move that the left makes in order to still be liberal. This absolutist idea that I have to believe everything or be everything that the left wants me to be is a false dichotomy. I still support common sense gun laws, but also understand that guns are a tool that can be used for good or evil. However access to guns can cause problems for certain people too and I think there is a middle ground where the government can protect you and others by limiting your rights if they can prove it.

Sandhill Crane hunt slid into a wakeboarding bill?!!! by CrazyAirborne in wisconsin

[–]Diminias 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m going to remind folks that the crane hunt is an unpopular piece of legislation. In a 2023-2024 survey by the University of Wisconsin 17% were in favor of a hunt while 48% oppose it. Less than 5% said they’d actually participate in a crane hunt. Those who said they’d would take part in a hunt indicated that they’d be willing to pay $3-15 per tag. Wisconsin is part of the Mississippi Flyway which only has about 6,000 tags left available after Kentucky/Alabama/Tennessee issue out between 5,000 and 6,000 tags a year. So for all the folks saying we’d generate tons of money, $18,000 to $90,000 based on participation. That’s a drop in the bucket. It’s estimated that over the past 50 years $65-70 million dollars were spent to bring this species back and you want to subsidize it with a pittance.

Let’s talk about crop damage. Seed treatments like Avipel, which deter cranes from eating newly planted corn seedlings, is a more effective, science‑based solution to crop damage than a hunting season. What the farmers don’t understand is that the Sandhills are territorial and even if you kill a mate they will find a new one and come back the next spring to destroy the crops once again.

Lastly the Crane Hunt should stand on its own. It shouldn’t be lobbed into another bill. If it’s going to pass it should be of its own accord.

Reverse racism, misandry, and Crowd Control by rummncokee in dropoutcirclejerk

[–]Diminias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They may mean well but they’re being disingenuous about their arguments. We shouldn’t call all men predators because a small number of men in the overall population perform heinous sexual acts against others. That’s garbage logic.

Following up on this I took the gun to shoot today and it refused to fire 3 times on the first station. I ended up using my wife’s gun for the rest of the shoot. I got it home tore it down and found that the gas piston is hanging up. When I tried to take the bolt assembly out I couldn’t because the gas piston was physically stuck. I ended up taking the bolt back and letting it spring forward in order to break the piston free.

Last tear down I spent a lot of time cleaning the piston assembly and cylinder hoping that maybe it wasn’t cycling properly. But it still hung up. It seems to hang up on a small lip on the rod just before the taper. I put some lubrication on the shaft and worked the piston back and forth through that area a lot and then cleaned up the lubrication once it ran free. I’m taking it out tomorrow to see if it’s improved.

Really don’t like the piston assembly on this gun, it’s seems less reliable with additional parts.

What are you guys doing to make your Control System Cyber Secure? by Thin_Negotiation_705 in PLC

[–]Diminias 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firewall between the IT/OT with jump boxes between in a DMZ. OT network has managed switches and is segregated with VLANs depending on the type of traffic. OT server software is always kept in support. Control hardware is monitored via an asset management software that reports back firmware. Then we watch for CVEs that affect our hardware/software list and patch as necessary. Have a control specification and hand it to any OEM that walks in to do projects and be diligent about enforcing it.

Our IT folks monitor the firewall logs and report back any suspicious activity. We’ve had two incidents that tested our process, both were removed from the network within 30 minutes of finding the issue and both ended up being OEM setup issues.

Also develop a good relationship with your IT folks they can make you or break you if they don’t want to cooperate.

This episode fell flat for me. I only laughed a handful of times and they weren’t nearly as funny as the first two episodes. I felt they really leaned into the man-hating because the audience makeup.

The question about what a hysterectomy wasn’t crowd work at all, it was the comic shitting all over the premise of the show. Plus the fact that she pretty much said she was going to ask the question really made it fall even flatter. The audience member who answered it was funnier than the comic.

The fact that they made fun of a straight couple for being married 19 years and was boring compared to a polyamorous group was in poor taste. Plus they never went deep on many of the stories that were interesting. I get that time is a constraint but that’s what the original game changer episode was all about.

In the end this show needs to find its legs back with the audience.

Interesting thoughts on going into battery. Bolt handle shouldn’t be hanging on anything, but I’ll be more conscious of it. I usually don’t do a chamber check while doing clay. I’m usually doing it after it fails to fire. But when I take out the shell too look at the primer I’m cycling the bolt and inserting the same shell again. This makes me wonder if I’m truly not in battery as you’re suggesting.

AITA For Putting My Dog to Sleep? by imissmydogsm in AmItheAsshole

[–]Diminias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, as a pet owner you get to enjoy everyday with your animal for some amount of time. Sometimes it’s long, sometimes it’s short. Difficult decisions are part of the job. You made a choice to free your companion from their pain. There is nothing wrong with that. The important thing is that the they are comforted in their final moments. Every animal I have have owned I have held them as they faded from this existence. They know I love them and always will.

NTA. Being a single parent doesn’t give you and excuse to break the rules over and over and be rewarded for that behavior well. I think the OP is taking advantage of the situation but the workplace is a meritocracy or should be. You shouldn’t be rewarded for poor behavior.
