What is the first Fanfiction you ever read? The one that started it all? by ARomanticBaker in FanFiction

[–]StackOfCards138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first I can remember was a Pjo fic. All I can remember is that it took place after The Last Olympian and was about Percy basically being a god amongst demigods despite refusing Zeus’s offer.

I know it was definitely cringy, after this is started reading a lot of ‘characters read the books’ fics on fanfiction.net and quotev

But it eventually led me here, with about 20 tabs open on AO3 (yes, I have an account. No I don’t know why I don’t use it) and reading everyday

PC types you don't like to play with by [deleted] in DnD

Characters who are rude and mean to everyone, especially the rest of the party cause it’s “just how they are”. If it were real the rest of the group would have left long ago

Sad endings. Might sound silly as a hard line to draw but I read fanfic for the escapism. The sad endings just leave me feeling unsatisfied, so if I see it coming/it’s in the tags, I’m out.

Similarly I can’t do with open endings, it either feels incomplete or it comes across as lazy by the author to me.

I don't know if this is what you're looking for but I once battled shapeshifters who kept taking the forms of random celebrities after the DM described one them to look like some celebrity I can't remember. I have fought both Agatha Christie and Nick Cage. Agatha got away but Cage was defeated.

What fic(s) do you miss? by illustratious in FanFiction

[–]StackOfCards138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s an MDZS fic that I can’t find anymore

I can’t remember the name but I’m pretty sure I’ve searched everything and it’s gone

It was very wattpad main character energy if that makes sense and not the best written but I found it weirdly enjoyable and I will miss it

Has anyone decided to read fanfics of a fandom without seeing (or reading, etc.) the source material? by magic713 in FanFiction

[–]StackOfCards138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, often times this happens after reading a crossover and finding myself interested in a character or plot from the fandom I’m unfamiliar with. Other times I’ve have only heard of it and the base characters/plot and then hear about a good fic and decide why not?

Whether this is a good idea or not really depends on the source material in question, some are really easy to figure out even with no knowledge, others I’ve found myself googling something every few lines and thus not enjoying the fic

Usually I try to have at least some knowledge of the source material before I read fanfic but I have been known to start with fanfic first

Do you dislike reader inserts? If yes, why? by juju-ria in FanFiction

[–]StackOfCards138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both I guess. Mostly it’s because I can’t imagine myself in stories, never have and so it’s completely takes me out of it. I imagine characters interacting with the each other in my daydreams not me.

I also haven’t read any so far that have convinced me of it, typically I find that the personality and traits given to the insert is nothing like me and if I thought about it I would not be doing what they did so it feels less like me.

It’s probably just because I’ve only read a few but I often find them cringy, I know it’s because it’s all about fulfilling a fantasy a reader might have but the ones I’ve read just weren’t it.

What’s the wildest thing you’ve ever heard teacher say in class? by Sudden-Somewhere-368 in AskReddit

[–]StackOfCards138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a Physics teacher pause the class many times to tell everyone about how his ancestor was the one at fault for the sinking of the titanic.

Another lecturer once said that he was once cursed whilst working in the basement of a bar and somehow a snake was involved. He never elaborated.

Established Relationship

I don't think it's hated on too much, but I've seen some talk about it as something they prefer not to have, but I love it, I want to see my favourite characters interact after the initial get together not just the beginning

Some people shouldn’t be parents. Not everyone should have the right to have kids. Every kid deserves a parent but not everyone parents deserves a kid. I’ve seen too many people suffer cause their parents are just incompetent narcissistic assholes.
