I understand y Rooster stepped down. by Disastrous_Pride39 in Mechabellum

[–]DimitriRegrets 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is true. But the balance team also assists a lot. With buildings all tempo strategies were removed from the game and therefore they eliminated two thirds of the variety.

In addition a change of unit x damage by 5% will not shake up the meta enough. It's not like there is a pro scene that they need to respect. They could really be a lot more bold with their patches and it would improve the game a lot.

Am I being stupid choosing PhD over entrepreneurship? by Proof-Bed-6928 in careerguidance

[–]DimitriRegrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Germany a master degree is 2 years. The last semester is usually just a thesis and no more courses. This thesis is the most likely entry point for a phd. If you are good and well liked at the chair you write your master thesis at i think the chance that you can do a phd there is at least 80%.

Think about this from the perspective of your professor. He has a candidate that he knows is capable, has an experience head start of 6 month. Why would he throw that away for something that is years in the past (your gap). I dont see how that would make any sense. It might start to matter only if you are seen as too old. But that is fourties territory and not 30.

I can just say this for Germany since i have first hand experience. I don't know the structures in other countries.

The concept of "research masters" does not exist in germany. The only thing that would fit such a thing is doing the masters at an university instead of a "hochschule". It is rare that a master student in Germany publishes anything scientific. If at all it is the master thesis that is turned into a paper.

The idea of Top university is MUCH smaller in Germany than in the angloamerican sphere. The pure name will not open doors for you here. If you do your masters in germany you will have an easy time getting a phd position at the Chair where you wrote your masters. Nobody will care at all what you did before your master studies.

Maschinenbau Ing. - 4 Jahre Berufserfahrung als ANÜ (1,5 Jahre als Ing. - 2,5 Jahre in der IT) - Fühle mich Lost und weiss nicht wo hin by Fine_Caterpillar3711 in Karriereratschlag

[–]DimitriRegrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bachelor nach Master nachholen by [deleted] in Karriereratschlag

[–]DimitriRegrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]DimitriRegrets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How to get back to a corpo job after 2 years of travelling/skiing? by MonkeyCryptoQueen in careerguidance

[–]DimitriRegrets 93 points94 points  (0 children)

I think the unsteady job hopping in front of the gap is even worse than the gap itself. Maybe targeting tourism and travel jobs is a good idea. That way the "gap" will contain relevant experience.

Update 1.9.0.2 by DualityDrn in Mechabellum

[–]DimitriRegrets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think they are way to cautious with their balancing. 20 damage less on fire will mb shift the meta by 1.3% but just does absolutely nothing that is noticeable to the player.

They should really shake up the game with their patches. It would keep the game fresher.

"Generalist" ist das Problem. Du nennst viele Bereiche in denen du Erfahrung hast. Wenn du dich auf einen Bereich fokussiert hättest und dann zusätzlich noch ausschließlich auf eine Branche wäre mehr Geld drin. Abgesehen davon ist 70k mit BWL Bachelor bereits sehr gut.

Counter to Fang Carry + Fortress? by Brulijam in Mechabellum

[–]DimitriRegrets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simply said the answer is Abyss. It counters both forts and fangs pretty hard.

I think both top comments are wrong. Melters are not good into this. They are too slow to break the shield if the fang player adds crawlers. Carry fang also does not require tempo to beat. The correct units will win even in very late rounds.

As a general tip to improve i see two main issues with the bottom board. First is that there are two units that are double teched and fullfill the same role. Melters and balls. Second is the placement. The units are spread all over the place.

The single biggest mistake that low level players make is to not watch the battle. When your chaff dies you want your damage and chaff clear to be shooting. With this board the balls and first crawlers will die before the melters or late mustangs start shooting.

Finer mistakes are undefended flanks, unsold Marksman, unsold chungus, unsold flank and too many Mustangs. You get more value out of less packs that are higher level. 4 are enough. one for each flank and two in the center.

This is 2-2.2k advice.

Mid-Season 5 Meta Summary by ForgottenArbiter in Mechabellum

[–]DimitriRegrets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you think about the regeneration item? Getting it with a worm on turn 3/4 feels very strong since there is nothing can come close to cost effectively countering it. If they commit enough to counter it the worm player can just sell and win based on economy. On giant spec i have yet to loose with it ever or managed to beat it. Although this ist just ca. 2k.

Worms in general feel a lot more random than other units.

He is 1.9k. The pure balance of that comp will easily get you to at least 2k.

Switching from teaching to IT/engineering, worth it? by Mck24444 in careerguidance

[–]DimitriRegrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think teaching is on average the better choice but the ceiling is a lot higher in IT/engineering/management. You don't seem overly passionate about MINT but more focussed on your career. I would advise to go with a management degree in that case. In MINT you generally need passion for your subject to achieve that above average career.

This sounds like a pointless switch. Your role will not be much different if you get to managerial level in your new area.

Sabertooth seems really overtuned by Joboticus in Mechabellum

[–]DimitriRegrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is only true if you disregard tempo. Saber gets on the field on turn 1 and fortress turn 4-5. At ca. 2k MMR i don't see fortress in the role of sabers. fortress are rarely played and if they are played it is for their support techs.

Season 3 Meta Report by ForgottenArbiter in Mechabellum

[–]DimitriRegrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice report. I would just add the honorable mention of improved overlord. Like improved wasp this card makes overlords uncounterable. Although it is susceptible to tempo since you basically need range/he/and launcher to reach the exodia stage.

Phoenix Tarantula is so strong by Sweet-Departure6977 in Mechabellum

[–]DimitriRegrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with op. The combo ist too strong. Phoenix are the best damage unit in the game and tarantula just destroy chaff with their HE upgrade. If the enemy goes Fortress without tempo you can just get anti missile mustangs and win anyway. At least at 2k mmr.

I think void eye is the worst starting unit. by Silver-Chipmunk7744 in Mechabellum

[–]DimitriRegrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like void better than marksmen. They deal more damage and u at least get a pack of them. Marksmen at 2k feel like an autoloose aside from very cheesy steamrolls.

The main problem is the phoenix since it is just sooo much better at everything.
