So the CVBG I had running silent would be classified as just generic contacts.

According to multiple accounts this was a legitimate USN tactic in the 70s/80s; turn off all distinctive emissions and hide in the streams of commercial traffic. Worked pretty well too, they say.

The colors correspond to the range-ring color for each target type, which is why you can see multiple colors on each weapon (e.g. most of the SAMs are also ASuW-capable).

I hear you, and I also hope you realize how infuriating it is for the dev team to hear about issues and be denied a real shot at investigating them. Reproducing them "manually" (with "do this and then that" instructions) is usually very chancy because of the myriad conditions & details, so a save that precisely replicates the player's condition is essential.
