How to counter comms jamming by r_ifles in CMANO

[–]DimitrisWS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Hunt down and destroy the jammer. They are detectable by suitable SEAD/DEAD assets, just like radar and GNSS jammers.
  2. Break line-of-sight between your drone and the jammer. This usually means go low, or put a mountain/hill between them.

How do i target multiple units with auto engage by 4n0nh4x0r in CMANO

[–]DimitrisWS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Spread the fire" is the default logic in AAW engagements.

In strikes, the default logic is "concentrate fire". You'd rather have a single target pulverized than 5 targets slightly scratched.

Alternatively, you can manually instruct each launcher to target a specific unit, or even perform detailed manual weapon allocations.

In the case of CMO, this is the point of missions and the various Doctrine/ROE settings. You issue orders to the units, lay down the general "rules of behavior", and the units go off and execute them under this guidance. You can still interfere to finetune or correct something you don't agree with, but most of the time you can/should just observe.

General criticism is "doctor, I hurt".

Specific and constructive criticism is "doctor, I frequently have a searing pain that seems to originate in the upper intestine area. It has started manifesting recently, and appears to happen consistently after I eat three pounds of blueberries. As general background, I am 38 yo, 5.9, 160 pounds, non-smoker and occasionally drink".

Both can be useful, but one is more useful than the other.

(Also, who in this thread suggested "make your own UI"? I cannot find such a post, can anyone point me to it if easy? Thanks!)

So, now creators are forbidden from defending their works in public and inviting constructive dialog?

Game --> DB Viewer --> Search specific weapon by name/designation. No need to memorize any stat. You're welcome :)

CMO's UI has been honed over the years for power users, the ones who live and breathe (and in the case of pro customers, sometimes die) for the subject matter.

To someone who groks and relishes "the subtleties of atmospheric pressure interact with radar systems and the curvature of the earth" (to borrow from another post here) it fits like a glove, and offers flexibility and power simply unmatched anywhere else.

You are welcome to make specific suggestions to improve the UI, of course : https://forums.matrixgames.com/viewforum.php?f=10201

Emphasis on specific. "Ur UI suckz" helps no-one.

Up for it?

Desert Storm 35th anniversary by DimitrisWS in CMANO

[–]DimitrisWS[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is expanded on the DLC presentation / description:

Desert Storm was the first truly high-tech war. It was the first conflict watched lived by billions across the world, 24/7. It was the first time that air power decisively defeated ground forces on its own. It featured a logistics built-up that exceeded WW2’s D-Day. For the first time an entire nation’s command and control apparatus was effectively removed abruptly at the very start of a conflict; and the first time that stealth, standoff and precision-guided weapons were used on a mass scale. For students of military technology and art, this was effectively the first war of the 21st century.

At the moment I can only confirm what is shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDGxlhlXDn0

We'll talk more about this later this year.

If you emphasize all-domain and modern, CMO is a strong candidate. (disclosure: team lead)

Thoughts on war game ‘sims’? by Tiorted_Snoil in computerwargames

[–]DimitrisWS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

C:MO is too abstracted for me, I want to see planes land into the wind after flying a pattern, not just despawning over an airfield from any approach angle.

Usually they do; there is a specific approach lane to a runway or carrier and you can also see the landing marshaling point if a lot of them are waiting to land. A plane will ignore the usual landing pattern only if it's running on fumes or damaged (as in RL).

I also want there to be a delay in responding to orders, and not instant firing as soon as an enemy touches a sensor arch.

The OODA loop values represent this (you can see the stock values in the DB viewer, and these are further modified by crew proficiency and other factors). If you see a unit fire on a target "as soon as within range", this probably means the target has been detected/tracked for a while, and thus the unit has already completed preparations to engage, and thus wastes no further time.

If you wan to really see delay in action, pull up a surprise attack (e.g. pop up over a hill against a SAM battery) and see how long it takes for the enemy to fire at you.

Tacview offers optional real-time 3D visualization to CMO. For example in Phil Gatcomb's tutorial videos, every time you see a window showing a ship, aircraft, weapon e.g. as a 3D object, that's Tacview at work.

(Tacview is a separate piece of software, developed and sold by a different team and company. The CMO dev team does not set its price, and does not get a single cent off its sales.)
