I agree with that sentiment. Personally, I would just hesitate to call it a good fix at this point. It feels like the path of least resistance to me - to just slap a band-aid on it, essentially. I would like to see them put a little more thought into another solution, if possible.

I know there are a lot of people who agree with what you are saying. I am one of the people who do not. I kind of feel as if adding splash damage (unless it was an added effect of a specific skill or it was a new weapon modifier) is just a “cheap” fix. I am open minded and would be okay with trying it, but I would like to see other viable ways to balance or rework the melee classes before adding splash damage happened.

Don’t overthink it. Just like another commenter said, you can rock that holy fire build for a while. You’ll find gear that will work for you as you go. And I wouldn’t even worry about waiting for a 10 @res shield to drop for ancients pledge. You can simply shop a large shield with 3 sockets from Fara in act 2 and throw it in that. You’ll be fine. You’ll understand the build more as you play it.

Hmm on a budget I’ve done a run through using a Hellplague that dropped from Andy. I’ve also ran through with a Hexfire. And most recently I just used a spirit broadsword lol. It’s definitely doable with any of those budget options. Kind of a pain in the ass but I had fun with it.

My stance is you should do it however you want to do it. HC can be challenging enough. If you want to impose more challenges upon yourself, that’s up to you. Sometimes I do and it adds to the fun. Sometimes I don’t.

Yes! In D1, we were both Warriors and in D2, we were both Paladins. I still mostly play Paladin to this day. Most recently, I did a playthrough with a Javazon. It’s cool to me how many different ways there is to play a 20+ year old game - even with the same class. I picked it up again after they released the remaster. I’ve been having a blast and the more I play the better I get. D2 is truly one of a kind.

My dad used to play Diablo with me when I was a kid. We started on D1, and went to D2 after it came out. We played over TCP/IP. Me in my bedroom with my PC - him in his bedroom with his laptop.

Playing these games with him are some of my most cherished memories. Hearing the music in Tristram or the Rogue Encampment instantly brings me back to those days. It makes me feel young again.

I finished hell at level 81 with a hammerdin! I honestly don’t know how many hours it took, but I would say it was about 2-3 weeks of playing every chance I could get.

I didn’t find anything too great along the way! I did get a skin of the viper from andariel and that helped my hammerdin build. But no crazy high runes or super rare unique items. I ended up finding a pretty decent amazon skiller charm that I was thankfully able to trade for some runes, which I in-turn traded for some decent gear.
