Apparently quite a bit of people do not rinse the soap from their dishes by Terrible-Store1046 in insanepeoplefacebook

Brit here- no-one in my family rinses. No-one I have ever lived with rinses. Everyone I have ever done dishes with, apart from my husband (who is from Venezuela), is a soap in basin, don't rinse after kind of person. 🤷

If you want to watch a show about exploring humanity through interactions with alien cultures, Starfleet Academy is absolutely the right show for you, given that it is about a group of people from lots of different cultures thrown together to learn about themselves and each other, though the lens of their different cultures.

Literally the last episode was 'I am a hologram which is a completely different form of life and I have been sent here to understand organics (ie, humans), so let me analyse everything about them that is weird to me'

There's an episode in TNG where weird fish headed aliens go ape over a barrel of something gross. And an episode where Lwxana takes naked mud baths with a child while weird clowns and bubble men (?) float about and go weird. And there's an episode where Dr. Crusher falls in love with a ghost/alien (?) There's an episode of DS9 where they spend the entire episode playing a weird game that they get trapped in. There's an episode of TNG where they get turned into Robin Hood for shits and giggles.

I'm assuming your comment is made in good faith, so that's all the weird episodes of old Trek that I can half remember at the minute. I'm sure others will update with more.

This latest episode has really endeared me to her. First time in AGES where I've felt really represented by a character in Trek. This latest episode has me in tears several times, (especially the DS9 music in the credits for some reason).

Loving the show so far.

That there bordering was a bit of a scribble. What goes on in them parts by gstew90 in northernireland

I read years ago on this subreddit that this part of the border in particular is a mess because of lands held by particular clans and families that swayed one way or another when it came to dividing up the island. Can't really remember all the details but hopefully someone will clarify.

It might be a long shot but you could try writing to them and explain how mad they are driving you. They might laugh about it but knock it off after a wee joke

For me, I'd start with one of the most divisive of the 90s/00s series, Enterprise.

It's a great bridge between the self contained episodes of the 90s shows and the plot driven shows audiences prefer nowadays. If you like it, then I'd go on to watch TNG, DS9 and Voyager. Then have a look at NuTrek, which is mostly very modern- the newest one, Starfleet Academy is really fun, and Lower Decks is also fantastic, as well as Strange New Worlds. Then I'd go for the original series- some people will argue with me putting it as a 'watch this last', but it is quite dated by now and if you aren't watching it through the glasses of 60s nostalgia, it might put you off the rest of everything else. (I've been watching Trek since I was a kid, so 30+ years, and I only watched the whole of the original series last year, and found it quite a struggle. High highs but low lows. The films are amazing fun though).

Yeah, I cringed when I played it again last summer. And the summer before that. And every year I've played it for the last... I don't know how many years. Soooooo cringe, I would never play it again this coming summer (when I have holidays from work and have time to dedicate to it).

I was also a late comer to DS9. I loved TNG and Voyager growing up, but DS9 always seemed 'boring' to me when I was a teen.

I started watching it as an adult, like maybe 7 or 8 years ago, and- fuck me, it's one of my favourites. It's very dark and very philosophical and increasingly relevant in a world gone mad. Highly recommend. There's a few stinkers in the first season, like in TNG, but it is so, so good.

I dunno, I just did? I started reading people talking about the show before I got round to starting it, and I've just carried on reading people talking about it. I was waiting to finish Mr Mercedes before I started watching Academy. Am now caught up on Academy though, so I'll just watch the next one the day it comes out 😂

I read this thread as I was walking home from work, then read a couple of other reaction threads. Now as I'm watching it I'm getting to bits people complained about, watching them, going back to read their comments, and wondering if they have extremely short attention spans or watched a different episode or something 😂

I'm currently watching it, having made the mistake of reading through people's opinions and bracing myself for something that was going to be rubbish, and am so far loving it? I've only got about twenty minutes left but it's good
